Why are the Kings always linked to the slowest players?

Polak was horrible in the finals.

The only players the Kings should be looking at are Hamhuis, Demers, and Okposo. Even then, I don't know what the Kings will do with an abundance of D and forwards but whatever.

What's Rob Valicevic and Randy Robitaille up to these days? I'm expecting those kinds of free agents. Oh and Chris McAlpine and Jason Holland on d.

Ah yes, I remember the annual spiel from Tim Leiweke where he'd say the Kings will be aggressive shoppers thanks to them having more money cleared with the departures of Luc Robitaille and Rob Blake, and their big off season signing turned out to be... Steve Heinze.

You'd have to assume they'd be major players for Okposo.

Demers will probably get an outrageous contract from Edmonton with a full NMC that Lombardi would never give to him.

Hamhuis, if canucks aren't interested in bringing back, I see could sign a Mitchell-like deal with the Kings (Or Sharks/Edmonton)

Given how slowly they brought in the likes of Toffoli and Pearson, I would think that Kempe may be a mid-season call up who will be eased in rather than penciled in.

He is also younger than those 2. He is just 19 now and will turn 20 in Sept.
Were Pearson was one of the older ones in his draft Kempe was one of the youngest.
I wouldn't mind seeing it happen but I'm really thinking he's another year out even for that.

Kempe is probably still needs more time to develop his game. However, he had shown signs of being there, especially in the playoffs both this past season and in the cup winning year.

If we can land a guy like Okposo in the FA market. I wouldn't mind seeing Kempe in our bottom 6. Our bottom 6 desperately needs speed with some skill. Kempe provides that as well as some size. And we don't have anyone else currently on the rosters (LA/ONT) that provide that skill set. IMO, we can't afford to roll both King and Mersch on the LW in our bottom 6. Due to cap reasons, I think they should move King, along with Clifford and Nolan. I wouldn't mind seeing this forward group.

Gaborik - Kopitar - Okposo
Pearson - Carter - Toffoli
Kempe - Dowd - Brown
Mersch - Andreoff - Lewis

Maybe. If he does come up, I expect a few games from him in the bottom six just so he gets a taste of the big league. No point in rushing the kid.

Gaborik is one of our most skilled players. He had a down year so what ? So did everyoe else . Trading him would make us even worse while we keep Lewis, King , Brown , Clifford lol i love how everyone still thinks nothing is wrong but once we miss the playoffs next year ill love to start a told you so thread and hear how that koolaid still tastes .[/QUOTE

Nevermind

“I believe I have many good years of hockey left. I played in the Olympics two years ago. Last year, there were two major injuries and in the last 10 weeks I played my best hockey in a long time. I’ve got lots of ‘top-4 D’ hockey left in me, and my goal in summer training is to be the best defenceman on my new team. I will find a team that values what I do.”

He added a winning situation does matter.

“I’m still very competitive. It’s more fun winning.”

Hamhuis said he’s spoken to three teams (although he would not name them) and others have declared interest.

One would think the Kings would be one of those teams. He's saying all the right things and I do believe him. He'd be the perfect partner for Doughty, and they were teammates on that Olympic team.

How many teams who are courting his services could offer him an opportunity to play with a Drew Doughty?

Is Kempe ready?

He can flat out fly, and is a pretty tough kid!! Gets hit alot and bounces back up. He does remind me of Trevor Lewis in this respect. His shot is good but his scoring isnt always there. He's better at wing than center. He's much faster than a King or Mersch would be. He'd bring much needed speed to 3rd or 4th line, and could be slotted higher if needed. Another year in the AHL wouldn't hurt him, but at the same time, he could help the Kings now. Also, he's system ready, which some of these guys you trade for aren't.

I'd be thrilled if LA could come out of free agency with Brad Richards and Dan Hamhuis, while avoiding guys like Martin and Polak. Eriksson or Ladd would be nice, but they'll be too expensive.

Well, if Adam Larsson costs Taylor Hall I think we can safely say we're in for a long wait to get our Voynov replacement.

As for free agency, I can't even remember the last high profile free agent signing the Kings made. Mitchell was a great one but he was a big gamble coming off a season ending concussion. Okposo, Demers and the other top profile free agents will get much better offers from other teams, I don't see the Kings landing one of those guys. Against all odds I'm hoping for Hamhuis though.

Happy to see it was Bernstein who tweeted out the interest in Polak, that usually means it's completely made up.

I think the Larrson Hall thing shows somewhat of a pecking order in the market vs. how good one might think a player is at his position.

Order is something like:
1. RH D
2. C
2. LH D
4. RH W
5. LH W

Some of these are in more supply.

Does Gagne count?

that's just it, i don't mind the deal for the oilers. I think it speaks to the fact there are more LW available league wide than D. Hall is the better player sure, but factoring need of position it makes some sense for the Oilers.

TSN CA saying this:

"Lucic is believed to have turned down a six-year, $36 million offer from Los Angeles, allowing him to hit the market. "

If true thank goodness he turned the Kings down..

LOL. "I want to stay in Los Angeles. Not even thinking about hitting the open market cause this is where I want to be." You should've added, 'if the term is 8 years' Lucic.
I can just see it now. $7 mill/ 7 year NTC deal from the Oilers.

Calling it now, Gaborik will be traded soon. To who, and for what, I have no idea. It has to happen if he wants to change improve this team.

frick i hope so, but I highly doubt it.

If there was a chance of Gaborik being delat it would have made sense to do at the draft or before the FA courting period in order to free up space for Lucic

Guess will see tomorrow what number he gets.

I am thinking 7 at 45 Million now.

wasn't calling BS that the article existed, but that LA actually offered that

Lucic was not going to take a pay cut, I think it is plausible he was offered 6x6.
Maybe the sticking point was not getting an NMC.

At 6 million he probably could be traded as soon as next year if Vegas would not nab Brown or Gabby.

Makes total sense actually.
