Line Combos: 2016-2017 Kings Roster

Unless King has some really good blackmail material on Dean, I don't know why he's still on the roster.

McNabb better be on a short leesh

King is easily the teams 2nd best LW at this point. No way he's getting traded.

Zatkoff has been hated on but ultimately pretty effectively no matter where hes gone. Hes an upper tier backup. And Condon sucks. Not even close.
 
So if King/Dowd/Purcell is tried, I think they could actually put up some decent points. Not sure about the defensive side, though.

And I would rather see Forbort with Martinez on the 2nd pairing, but it looks like we get the M&M's again, at least to start.

$2.5m cap hit, so like $1.6m or something in dead cap space if he's in Ontario. Scuderi, a couple hundred thousand. Plenty of defensemen in Ontario that need playing time, and you don't want to send Greene down and have him sit there. Scuderi is going to be 38, and was on 3 different teams last year. Maybe it's an easier sell to get him to go to Ontario on paper, or whatever is going to happen.
 
I think with Greene it's just a culture/loyalty thing where you don't just drop a guy who sat out a year due to injury. You give him a chance and let him play himself on or off the roster. I don't have anything against that, honestly.
 
Dowd and Forbort made the team because it was either in or out . They would hit the waiver wire and get picked up. Its unfortunate management cant get rid of Nolan , Clifford , King to bring in some fresh energy. I guess after the Kings blunder and dont make any progress only then will we see some change.

wtf i think this is taking fair criticism of his play ( not like he played well so far in preseason ) a little far. He has not been hated on by anyone


Upper tier back up goalies on a stanley cup winning team should have a better record then 4 wins 7 loses and 2.79 gaa

I agree but im still shocked that Gilbert is going to be 7th dman and Greene will play and not vice versa. Glad to see Forbort is going to play but once Mcnabb sucks and gets blown by over and over and the Kings are on a 5 game losing streak hopefully management will bring up Ladue , Kempe , and Gravel if the Kings dont carry 8 dmen
 
You guys are killing me. Just who exactly do the Kings have that's better then Nolan/Clifford/King right now? They're probably signing Setoguchi to play on the first line. Purcell is also in the lineup. Where are all these players that are better options? Hell Noaln is even an effective 4th liner. Who's got the grit to replace him on the 4th line?

Love that Greene's up. Really did you have any doubts.

Mersch is better than than King but i think you know my feeling on this before i typed it :sarcasm:

It's not really something to be shocked about. It's not set in stone. It might last a game. It might last 5 games. It may not even happen on opening night.

Mersch is probably better around the net then King, but Mersch really struggled in the defensive zone in his last game. I would love for someone to come up and take a spot as the Kings winger depth is horrendous.

It's the same thing with defense for me. Lots of people are complaining about the youth not getting a shot last year. They only had to outplay Ehrhoff/Scuderi/McBain to earn that chance.

I see it as there are opportunities to make the NHL all over the roster and the youth aren't taking advantage of it right now. That's on the young guys not stepping up and earning it when the bar is pretty low to begin with.

I disagree i think king is just as bad in the defensive zone and looks lost most of the time. This team needs more goals bad and Mersch 's touch around the net makes him the better choice to me
 
Looks like Kings are going with 8 D for now.

Setoguchi-Kopitar-Brown
Purcell-Carter-Toffoli
King-Dowd-Lewis-Shore
Clifford-Andreoff-Nolan-Pearson

Muzzin-Doughty
McNabb-Martinez
Forbort-Greene
Gravel-Gilbert

When Pearson comes back Gravel goes to AHL and Nolan, Clifford, Andreoff and Shore will battle for the 4th line and likely Lewis being the RW on that 4th line.

Setoguchi-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
King-Dowd-Purcell
Clifford-Andreoff/Shore-Lewis
Extra Nolan and one of Shore/Andreoff

Personally, I think Andreoff-Shore-Nolan would be a fun 3rd line.
 
I wanted Kempe and LaDue on this team.

LA will have to add youth by next season and trim some fat.

I'd be surprised if LA gets in the playoffs at all honestly. Kopi, Quick, and Doughty all need career years and to stay healthy.

Never want to see another let down like last season again.
 
Looking at my post above the 3rd line has changed but the 4th line has not.

Kings really need to deal one of Clifford and King to give Mersch or Andreoff a shot and really change the bottom 6.
