Line Combos: 2016-2017 Kings Roster

Sutter has already said he will play drew and jake together. Alec is a 2nd pairing defenseman. Who is left to play with him Greene is getting to old to play 20 mins a game. It will come down to gilbert McNabb or forbort McNabb is playing awful this preseason and gilbert looks alright to me at least better then McNabb He has played top 4 in the past and i would be fine with him starting out top 4 with the option to move him down later in the season depending on McNabb or forbort showing they cna handle the top 4 spot.

I think the perfect way to do things is that Gravel is NEVER a healthy scratch ALL year long. So, what does this mean? To me for the future growth of the team, they need to have at least 2 forward and 1 D that don't have to clear waivers, and send them up and down all year long. So, you rotate Mersch, Kempe, Gravel, LaDue all year long as if they have ONE spot, and any time they are up, they are IN the lineup. This is a way to get the future games, and not have to waive personnel now.

The two game McNabb Martinez experiment was atrocious. McNabb was so awkward for Martinez to play with. It's almost like Martinez was thinking, hey Brayden, get on the Right side, and I'll take over the left and get this thing moving. It's not fair to Martinez to be in the role of playing his off hand, which is difficult enough, to also be expected to "carry" the pairing. I had the feeling that he'd be better served if he has to play with McNabb, it'd be better on the left side for him. I never had that feeling when he paired with Muzzin because Muzzin could carry the pair. Yes, I was at both games!! What a nice arena!! I think Vegas hockey will be special. Right across the street from Monte Carlo. And yes, it seemed like the team might have been staying there. Saw several players walking around.

So you're saying scratch Greene and get the youth experience? Maybe I was reading it wrong... could be. Expansion draft. Teams have to make available at least one defense man that's played so many games in the last season or 2. Gilbert is under contract for one year, so that means Greene has to dress so many games or the Kings would end up exposing someone else to the expansion team that's played a certain number of games. Wonder if Greene can hit that number.

Greene would have to play 40 games this year to be the defenseman exposed following the rules. Or the Kings sign Gilbert to a 1 year extension for cheap and he only has to play 23 games to make the 2 year total of 70 games. If not, they will have to expose Martinez or McNabb.

I'd rather just sign Gilbert to an extension for next year and expose him under the rules. Then when he doesnt get claimed; just buy him out.

Really hoping that a little youth, not that both are overly young, helps bring some energy back to this team.

For pure saving issues and the fact I don't think there would be a big gap in performance differential I would like to see Mersch in and King traded for picks. Not picking on King as I like him, just saving bucks where I could. If not for the Pearson suspension and Gabby injury I would say Andy could replace Clifford as well. I love Clifford's drive but I think Andy can put a few more pucks in the net and this years team will need all the help they can get.

Our Defence scares me. Doesn't look like DL's moves this spring are gonna pay off. A lot of repeativeness.
 
Was fully expecting Scuderi to hit waivers.....but i'm still surprised it actually happened. Hoping Kempe/Mersh + Gravel/Forbort/ possible Ladue midseason make their resepctive mark on the Kings so King and McNabb can become expandable.
 
I am wondering is Mike Condon a upgrade on Zatkoff ? Our goaltending outside of quick was super shaky in the preseason imo we need a better backup I would not be happy with Zatkoff being our starter if quick went down

minor note its only 2 games not 4 He served 2 pre season games already
