Seeing the contract Gaudreau signed, I'm hoping it's a sign that Toffoli will get less than that.

A long term commitment at $5.5M would be ideal. He should get a deal around the same ballpark as Mike Hoffman.

As for Pearson, he has so much to prove. I don't think he's worth over $2.5M yet. He needs a big, productive season to prove his worth.

Woah, Toffoli's numbers have been really good the last couple years. Getting him locked up for around $5M would be good.

Gaudreau deal should help.

Keep dreaming.
A player without rights that signed for 5 RFA years and 1 UFA year.
Compared to a player with rights and new deal will include 2 RFA years and the rest UFA.

Except the player with no rights is far better and more consistent than Toffoli. Are you suggesting he'll get more than $6.75M? If so, I don't see Lombardi caving in.

No I don't think he'll get that much unless he has a monster season.
But don't see him as low as 5.5 as nice as that could be.

Neither do I. Toffoli is more consistent overall, scoring equally on the road as he does at home. Johnny hockey scoring really drops off on the road, and on the defensive side too, with a -17 . He doesn't put up the same numbers, and maybe he will in the future, but I think his overall game is better.

I think the Forsberg and Gaudreau deals is very beneficial to Toffoli. I think if we get anything in that range for 6-7 years we're golden. Just as long as Toffoli doesn't score 50 this upcoming season

I would. He's a solid possession player. Grab him and move King for picks.

I watched PAP play all season and he was slightly above average.

If you want to upgrade on King, I would go another route though.

Ps., Zankou Chicken is so boss.

He's not so much an upgrade on King as he's a cheaper option who provides more offense from the 3rd line, which is what the Kings are trying to go for this season. Also, moving King allows an opening for Mersch next season, while Parenteau holds the spot down this season. Just my .2cents.

He won't be providing much offence if he's hurt. PAP is a little fragile. He's also very ineffective if he's relegated to lesser minutes.

I bet there's a guy out there that'll be more effective as a 3rd/4th line player with some grit. It's just up to DL to find him while somehow managing to move King's contract.

A good example might be someone like Peter Holland from Toronto. He's at $1.3M and naturally a C but he's learned to play W. There is some untapped offensive upside still. He's got really good hands and with more minutes, he could be a decent 3rd line player. I have no doubt that Holland could give a team 30+ points. I have a lot more trust in him than I would a guy like PAP. Holland might hit the waiver wire soon enough, as his stay in Toronto seems to be coming to an end, due to a bunch of young players coming up. Holland isn't really that gritty depth forward you want but he's got more bite than PAP, which isn't saying a whole lot.

The Mayor is reporting the Kings will go with 7 d?

1 Doughty
2 Muzzin
3 Martinez
4 McNabb
5 Greene
6 Forbort
7 Gilbert
8 Gravel

Unless Gravel is playing top 4 mins I don't know why he'd be in the NHL vs top pair on the Reign. He could be up for 2 games during the Pearson suspension.

Teams have their own guys they've signed. They have their own young guys they want to see play. It's a day before the season starts. Move King for picks. Where?

King is a UFA after this season too.

Rangers possibly moving Mcilrath

He'd be worth a look as a snarly 6/7 RD matt green replacement.

2010 1st round 10th overall (R handed physical depth defenseman) higher pick than Derek Forbort.

Seeing Tarasenko go right after Forbort makes me cringe still :(
