I agree with the last guy. "Quickly becoming overrated on this site"

As with many players in Arizona.

Most users on here, me included, don't watch that team a lot and have no idea how good, or bad, he is.

I always bring it back to Yandle who was "one of the best D in the game" in Arizona and was a third pairing PP specialist in New York.

Hockey Hipsterism at it's finest.

Condra is on waivers for a reason, no thanks.

Pyatt isn't going to get anything of significance so why would you trade him?

Condra is as good as you're going to get without giving up assets. The fact he has experience and chemistry with players on this team is a plus.

If you can get someone better, by all means do it. But it will cost a lot more. I don't think this team will give up a 1st round pick for a rental. And you won't get much for a third.

Better Condra than a guy like Teddy Purcell.

I suppose you could get someone like Michalek back for a song....would Toronto trade him back here in the midst of a playoff run?

Care to explain how Condra is better than Teddy Purcell?

He is a responsible forward and can still skate. He can play both wings. He's not much offensively, but he can provide depth for the 3rd and 4th lines.

Purcell can't skate anymore, and he was never much defensively.

I think you guys are expecting too much from what's going to be available. Landeskog and Duchene are not coming here.

how about just an NHL player lmao and yes, Condra is the next best thing on the market to Landeskog and Duchene :shakehead:

there is zero chance we claim Condra, which is a good thing.

Yeah, no room for Condra this year. We already have Pyatt, which has that role.

Purcell sucks. I don't understand why you guys want him. Do you want a less skilled Bobby Ryan on your team? Because that's what he is.

Vrbata can be a nice add. Good vet who is having a bounceback season of sorts.

Most of these guys that will be available are fungible assets. Condra is an NHL player. He hasn't been claimed since he has the extra years on his deal. Tampa also happens to be one of the deepest teams in the league, their record notwithstanding, which is why he can't stick on their roster. All he'll cost in money.

With no 2nd for this year and next, and a team that will only trade 1st round picks for a high end player, I highly doubt there will be much available in the bargain bin of Senator pickups.

I'm actually leaning more towards Michalek, but I think Toronto wouldn't trade him back here. He can fit in on a top six role in a pinch.

Tampa's played without Stamkos and Callahan for most of the year. They've had about 10 no names/ AHL level players in and out of their bottom 6 this year trying to find someone that will stick. Condra is one of those players. As of now they're going with Gabriel Dumont and Michael Bournival. Conacher has been given a chance.
The fact is, Condra didn't play well for them this year or last. He offers nothing offensively and has an additional year on his contract. I don't see the appeal.

Here is a list of possibilities as UFA rentals that I think won't cost too much & Ottawa could afford:
Parenteau
Strafford
Jagr
Doan
Burrows
Michalek
Gionta
Vanek
Boyle
Versteeg
Bourque
Vrbata

Ottawa has improved their defensive play substantially this season & because of that I doubt they would go after another defensive expert. What I think they do need is more scoring especially secondary scoring from their 3rd & 4th lines. Hopefully, they won't have to give up a lot to get a goal scoring forward & shouldn't if they are an older option.

One of the areas they could improve upon that becomes even more important in the playoffs is faceoffs especially from the 4th line. Brian Boyle has turned into a pretty good faceoff guy as is Hanzal & Hanzal can move up the lineup at centre or LW. It would be nice to win more faceoffs during the PP & not have to go chasing the puck down to the other end of the ice after faceoffs in the offensive zone constantly killing precious minutes off the clock on the PP.

Jagr would be a dream come true for me. Big, big fan of him and Mario.

Would also be awesome for him to get a chance to play in Canada before he's done. And I think can still contribute too.

if we claim Condra now don't we only have to pay like half of his contract? Grab that guy assssssappppp. A free pickup like that for our 4th line? **** ya. Lazar played some of his best hockey with Condra, throw those two pack together and add in there McCormick

McCormick-Lazar-Condra that's a better of a 4th line. Have Neil on standby when we face tough teams.

Jagr would be a dream come true for me. Big, big fan of him and Mario.

Me too. Jagr is also an excellent puck possession player and PP guy. 2 elements we desperately need more of in our roster. He'd be just an amazing addition. I think he would absolutely kill it with Turris and Dzingel.

Jagr on the PP with Stone, Karlsson, Phaneuf and Hoffman.... oh my God.

Honestly I'd like to bring back Condra... Lazar played great with him and I hope it that lazar-Condra-Pageau can work again, though unlikely

He also plays RW which is the position Ottawa needs to upgrade & get a little more scoring from.

Hoffman - Brassard - Ryan
Dzingel - Turris - Jagr
Smith - Pageau - Stone
Paul - Lazar - Robinson/Neil

I am a big Condra fan. He is a tweener but a good one and we need those in our terrible bottom 6. Especially if they gonna be free.

Bring that man home. Just because he didnt work in TB doesnt mean he sucks. They play a different style than us.

Parenteau Meh
Strafford very Meh
Jagr This is who I want
Doan Not bad, but I think he will cost more than you think
Burrows Meh, I'd rather have Hansen
Michalek Only if TOR retains half salary.
Gionta Not interested.
Vanek Not bad, but not top of the list.
Boyle Don't think he'll be available. TBL wants to make the playoffs.
Versteeg Good one.
Bourque Not interested. This guy is done.
Vrbata Good one.

My thoughts.

He's a PK specialist at best right now, and we already have plenty of players on the roster that are very good in that regard. If he wasn't signed for another season at 1.25....he probably would have been worth looking at though, but that extra year just isn't worth it....especially when you consider the budget.

To Tampa Bay:
Andrew Hammond

To Ottawa:
Erik Condra

The Bolts will likely lose Vasilevskiy/Bishop to trade, expansion, or FA before the start of next year. The Sens have an extra goalie, and could stand to shake up their 4th line. Tampa clearly doesn't want Condra, Ottawa clearly doesn't want Hammond. Both could sort of use the opposing teams player, but neither can really afford to add such a player unless they unload their own cap casualty.

Thoughts?
