Very few at the NHL level are.

Skjei's getting there. Every other D on the Rangers couldn't dream of it.

Ironically, Staal is the only D on this team who has scored on an end-to-end rush. Though that we pre-eye injury, pre-concussions and pre-premature speed deterioration.

It'd be nice to have a D that can do that often. Hope Day is that player.

can anyone quickly explain how the last 2 games of the memorial cup are determined based on the records after the round robin?

well this year its easy
Seattle 0-3 done
St John 1-2 plays in saturday semi

Windsor and Erie, both 2-0 play today
winner plays sunday,
loser plays St John saturday semifinal,
then that winner plays tonight's winner sunday

if 2 teams were 1-2, they'd have met in the If-Neccessary play-in game on thursday

if the other 2 teams were 2-1, their head to head round robin game would determinewho played in semi (loser) or went directly to Final (winner)

the complicated case is one team 3-0 while 3 others 1-2

2. (i) In the event three teams should tie for the final playoff place position, at the conclusion of the single round robin series of games, the game each team played against the first place team shall be removed from their records.
The tie breaking formula shall be as follows:
Add each team’s goals for with their goals against which sum you divide into such team’s goals for. The team with the highest percentage gains the higher position in the standings and an automatic berth as home team in the semi-final game.
The remaining two teams shall play a sudden-death game with the winner to advance to the semi-final game. The home team in the sudden-death game will be the team that won the round robin game between the two teams.

(ii) In the event that after using the above mathematical exercise all three teams should still remain tied, the game each team played against the first place team shall be added to their records. The same formula from 2 (i) will be applied to finalize the rankings of the three teams.

McD?

He can do it, just normally plays safe.

He just did in the the playoffs, coast to coast, split the defense also, didnt score though.

Our fan base thinks our best player is a schlub. :help:

Most disrespected player by our fan base. Dude puts in excellent season after season, is always our best player, yet to our fans someone else is always better than McDonagh no matter what it is. We should apparently trade him, according to some. I think there was someone recently who said Shattenkirk was better than McD.

Absolutely agree with this.

Couldn't agree with this more. He's been far and away our best defender, all while having to drag Girardi's carcass for 25 minutes a game.

Also, the dude has been banged up as hell the past 2 seasons. He plays through it all and doesn't complain. That comes directly from someone I know in the org.

edit: In addition, I see a lot of people complaining about McD on the PP. I really don't see what the issue is. Yeah, he fumbles the puck sometimes at the point, but everyone does. He's not a bad passer, it's just that we don't have any big time shooters on the team. I guess Zibanejad was before the leg injury. Also, McD has a very good knack for getting shots through from the point. They're not hard shots for sure, but Nik Lidstrom scored a ton of points in his career doing the same exact thing.

Outside of Lundqvist McDonagh has been our best player for a long time. I suppose Zuccarello would be next but to me it's not even that close. It would have been nice if Ryan could have taken at least one more half step as a player though. To me he's just outside of a small elite group of defensemen. The Rangers have really good depth but they don't really have any elite skaters--the closest would be McDonagh.

This is why they should be trying to get that elite skater by any means necessary. If Mackinnon is available, I would throw the kitchen sink at Colorado. They have no problem developing and/or acquiring complementary players. Depth is much easier to replenish.

Day vs Erie tonight. Erie looks super strong.

Is Day gonna be matched up on Strome/Debrincat? That's basically NHL quality competition right there. Post a recap if you're watching!

(and definitely don't be shy to say how good Bracco looks while you're at it)

Actually it doesn't matter. I'll just look at the box score :sarcasm:

Luke Boka is a great name.

Some 2nd period thoughts: DiPietro has stood on his head for some long stretches of time, huge reason Erie hasn't scored.

Bracco has looked fine-good, not sure how he looked in the first period, but I wouldn't say this is an A game from him, might've had an assist on the 3rd goal, but if that was him, it was just a t-up pass for Sergachev to one-time it

Day's been pretty quiet, no real errors that I've seen. Not as playing as well as he was the other day, but he's been steady

Day looks like a D1 college player that snuck into a beer league game. Can skate circles around everyone, but is just kind of tuned out. He can rush the puck up the ice almost at will, but he only turns it into something positive about 20% of the time.

The tools are tantalizing, but I'm not sure the head will ever catch up.

He got the secondary on that one.

Hes looked meh. I've never been too impressed with him.

Dipietro just raised his draft stock in 15 minutes.

He's been raising his draft stock all season. He looks good.

I'd take him in the third round if we had multiple picks there.

Gotta think they're the favorites for the Mem Cup now.
