How has Day looked? I know he took a late penalty leading to a goal against, but that's about it.

I thought he looked excellent! The penalty was probably the only incident where he got beat one on one after getting too close to opponent who was able to make a turn along right boards (Day's offside). Otherwise Day was very solid letting play come to him on defense and making the right reads, including when to jump in carrying the pack offensively and creating scoring chances or at least havoc in front of the opposition's net.

Agreed. He looked very good!!

Tbirds lose in their first game. Gropp had an assist on the second goal.

Saw the game yesterday, Gropp was good, has great chemistry with Barzal.
Style wise, he reminds me so much of James Neal, less the nasty side...Big body that skates really well and has a fantastic release/shot!
He will need a playmaking center to feed him passes, since he will not create goals by himself, but I can see him score 30 at the NHL level in a few years, with a really talented center.

Nice cycle by that line for that goal, but it was Barzal and Strands wicked wrister that made that goal. Strand is a 6'3 RHdman free agent, no?

Gropp pinched in when he already had both his linemates in deep on the Otters GWG. Then with the goalie pulled Gropp didn't win the puck battle along the boards on the Otters clearing attempt that ended up with Erie's empty netter. Barzal just stood in the neutral zone watching, not a great end to the game by that line.

Ethan Bear put in a stinker, very disappointing.

Detroit looks like they hit good on Sambrook, nice RH dman.

Again Ethan Bear trying to do too much, led to that 2nd goal. But Seattle's not sharp.

Day had a nice rush early on that led to a chance.

That Day rush was very impressive. He can skate the puck out of his end. Gropp showed he can grow a great playoff beard. He doesn't look like he likes to carry the puck. I wonder if the coach moves Gropp back with Barzal because right now Seattle has got nothing going. Announcers speculated that Bear is hurt but those were two horrible turnovers.

Gropp almost had a sure-fire goal on a wide open net. But Chatfield just superman'd in front and blocked the shot.

Seattle scores. Gropp won't get an assist, but it should be known that he started the play that ultimately led to the goal.

3-1 Windsor now.

Day just had a breakaway and went hard into the boards. He's holding his head.

Edit: Think he just got the wind knocked out of him.
