The play he made was amazing. Entered Seattle's zone and deked out two Seattle players. His own teammate knocked into him hard and he went into the boards. Think it was Jeremiah Addison bum-rushing the net who hit Day.

Such a fluid sequence. His skating is amazing. And then Addison basically accidentally crosschecks him.

End of the 2nd. 4-1 Windsor.

Day has been relevant. Gropp has not. To be fair, though, that whole line that Gropp is on has been irrelevant.

I'm a notorious Isles hater, but I have concerns of Barzal being an impact player in the NHL.

6-1 Windsor now. Day with, again, a nice rush to start out the play to get into the zone for the goal. He should get a secondary assist.

Edit: Yep, got an assist.

Windsor is just really making a great statement as the host team. Lot of people thought they would be the weakest of the four teams.

And here they are, currently blowing out Seattle tonight (knock on wood) and they had a gritty finish against SJ in the first game.

Gropp came in on the back-check and stopped a potential breakaway.

Whoever mentioned that Bear is doing too much, you are 100% correct. :shakehead

After watching Dan Girardi and Marc Staal treat the puck like it was a hand grenade, Ranger fans are going to be in shock when they watch Sean Day make his end to end rushes. I think the technical hockey term for his two rushes tonight was WOW! I don't think he going back to Windsor next year.

Seattle stunk tonight so no one looked good. But I think whoever said Gropp looked like James Neal really got him right.

after~5 weeks off, andnow against teams that have been playing all that time, you don't know what you'll get.
Good job of W to be ready, play strong, and win back-to-back

Gropp, I don't know, maybe he was tired after what has been a long season, but he just wasn't engaged physically. That's never been his game but it was particularly glaring last night, IMO. A lot of board battles and forechecking opportunities and he just kind of lightly pushed the opponent.

He's still great at finding open space. Was absolutely ROBBED by that defender who made the diving save on the open net. He had a few other decent chances as well. His whole team looked like ****.

Day's skating is fantastic. He will be an NHL player just because of his skating ability alone. Skating the way he does at his size is awesome.

I know a knock on him has been his fitness, he does look like he may need to get into a little better shape.

Gropp reminds me a lot of James Neal. Hangs out in open space waiting for the puck to come to him for him to snipe.

i dont need my defenseman to make end to end rushes...i need them to be able to help transition the puck out quickly...not just mindlessly ice the puck or chuck it off the boards or receive a pas...look down at the puck..look up to see who is open...look back down at the puck...look back up to make sure its still open...then make the pass...only to turn it over since every player on the ice had enough time to figure out what hes going to do.

Is this a comment on Day? Because if it is, it's not accurate at all. Other than the end-to-end rushes.

I agree (unless it was just a general statement by Inferno).

And ability to do end-to-end rush is also a useful weapon to have. When I watched Day was smartly picking the right opportunity to go for it, not just for the sake of doing it. My only knock is that once near the opposition net Day seems to take himself out of play completely to go back to his position on defense. Not sure if this is because he doesn't trust his team's forwards to make a good read to cover for him but he should continue to stay with the play a bit longer.

End-to-end rushes are nice though if you are capable of pulling them off.

Very few at the NHL level are.

Skjei's getting there. Every other D on the Rangers couldn't dream of it.
