Gropp is on PPG pace in playoffs. How has he been playing?

As expected. Dominant at times, and not necessarily carried by Barzal and Kolesar. That top-line, with those 3,is dominating and in different games, it has been different players on that line carrying the team.

Gropp reminds me of Jamie Benn in juniors, when he was with Kelowna.

Oh jeez, now you've done it...

I doubt he will ever reach the same level in the NHL, but his style of play is very similar. I expect Gropp to be a good 3rd line winger, like JT Miller is.

I get it, but you just know that 3 years from now someone will be watching Gropp play and writing "LOL, this guys sucks, can't believe people on here compared him to Jamie Benn."

That is probably because those people never saw Benn play in the WHL

JT Miller had 56 points this year. That's a hell of a lot closer to a bona fide first line winger and is basically double the production of a third line winger in the NHL. If Gropp, and second round pick, becomes Miller, that's a huge win.

Agreed.

It is 1st line production. Everyone has a player or two who they are way lower on than everyone else. That player is JT Miller for Amazing Kreiderman.

Maybe Gropp can get more than one goal in his first 39 playoff games :shakehead

But hey...it's cool that JT gets a bunch of regular season points...and then somehow gets the mysterious injury that prevents him from putting the puck in the net in the post season.

Does he get credit for playing good defense? Rick Nash is the defensive MVP of every playoffs, according to some.

JT Miller plays on our 3rd line, or even 4th line, mostly. Whenever he is bumped up to the top-6, his production takes a nosedive. His best games were on the Hayes line with Grabner.

Ahhhh...now the Nash comparisons.

No, he doesn't get credit for playing good defense like Nash does, cause he doesn't play good defense.

Nor does he get credit for those nice minor penalties he takes....you know....just so Nash can play pretty good defense while killing them off.

but he got 56 points during the regular season....that's good. Those 56 definitely helping us out in this series. Oh, but he hit a post in OT last game. Let's give him a cookie.

Our prospect pool is still below average, but I feel much better about it than I did a couple months ago. It feels like we just had an extended draft with a few second round picks and some late round picks over the past 30 days or so.

Bereglazov: 2nd round
Pionk: 2nd round
Pedrie: 3rd round
Nell: 5th round
Lettieri: 6th round
Leedahl: 7th round

Bereglazov and Pionk are exciting players. I have high hopes for Pedrie and Nell as well. We're obviously not the only team signing UDFA players but we've signed up some of the better ones. It has added some much-needed depth to the system. Depending on how the draft goes, our prospect pool could jump back into "middle of the pack" territory pretty quickly. Gorts has done a nice job here in a relatively short period of time.

Nobody's taking pot shots at Drury about his weekend now that he's turned us into an NCAA recruiting force.

Drury will probably be in line for an AGM or even GM position in the near future. Let's get all we can out of him while we can.

Isn't Drury already the AGM?

I hope they find a way to get Brad Richards into the FO. Always seemed like a guy who would do very well in that capacity.

Nell is a lot better than a 5th round ranking. Wouldn't be surprised if he were the starter for Hartford next season over Halverson.

But that won't matter until changes with staff are made down there.

Yeah I think he has more talent than that. My ranking is just a reflection of the fact that goalies usually go later in the draft.
