People tend to forget that Nejezchleb was injured both years after NYR drafted him. He's unfortunately kept the injury consistency throughout Europe, as he only played 11 games in the Czech Extraliga this past year. With that said, his stats looked pretty decent for only playing 11 games (2 goals, 5 assists), but was minus-3 and 16 minutes worth of penalties.

Nej had a pretty impressive pre-season in 2015. Scored against the Flyers, had a good game on both ends of the ice. Then again, so did Bodie. It didn't work out and injuries certainly didn't help. I was hopeful but he never really managed to put it together which is a shame

I slept through the games tonight, but both Regina and Seattle won...each by the score of 5-3. They both now have 3-2 leads in their series. Gropp had 1 goal. Zboro had 1 assist and was +3. Zboro is +18 in 16 PO games. Gropp has 10 points in 9 PO games. Doing pretty well.

Two assists and a +5 for Zborovskiy as Regina won 7-4 to win their series 4-2. Gropp had an assist in a 3-1 win, Seattle also won their series. Regina and Seattle will face each other in the conference final, 1 vs. 2.

Does anyone know who might be leading the WHL playoffs in +/-?

5. Leedahl at +13, 3. Mahura at +14, 3. Ottenbreit at +14, 2. Wagner at +15, 1. Zborovskiy at +23.

I really don't understand how he keeps doing this, and his +/- is always so much better than his teammates. Obviously a Regina player will have the best +/-, but he's not just beating them, its by a big margin. I know people say +/- is irrelevant, but when you are obliterating your competition in that stat in the regular season and playoffs, I think there has to be something to it.

Does anyone have any theories?

Pats were no 1 in the WHL, but the T-birds were 8th. And it isn't the conference finals, but the final for the Chynoweth Cup. The winner of this one, will go to the Memorial Cup, which Sean Day's team will host

I have 2:

1) He never gets scored on 5on5. He's the Pats #1 penalty killing defenceman, which means his 5on5 icetime takes a bit of a hit as the coach keeps him ready for the PK. This means most of his goals against don't actually net him a minus.

2) He's that good 5on5. Hobbs and Mahura are the top pairing, and Hobbs gets caught fairly frequently jumping up and eats the minuses. Zboro is much more steady, and I think his +/- isn't so much a factor of how many goals scored, as it is a factor of how few goals against.

This article from a French Canadian newspaper quotes Michel Joey as saying he was offered an AHL contract by the Rangers but he will wait to see if he gets an NHL contract offer before signing up with Hartford. http://www.lapresse.ca/le-droit/spo...ent.php?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Great article. Joly was very candid and seems like the type of guy to wear his heart on his sleeve. I like him even more now. Also, now we finally know what the result of that puck to the face was...a broken orbital bone. Hope to see him back in Hartford...but more power to him if he can find someone to offer that 2-way he wants.

Did we officially sign that Russian defenseman? Didn't we have to wait until May 1st to make it official?

Yes, it's official. Bereglazov is a Ranger and has a 2 year, two-way ELC @ 925k/70k, with possible bonuses structured in.

My only curiosity is the "European Assignment Clause" in his contract. What does that mean? Does it means he can bail back across the pond if he doesn't get the NHL time he desires?

Sort of. My understand is that he stays if he's on the roster. Buch has one, too. This was from the SNY blog last year.

5/13/16 | 8:38PM: Pavel Buchnevich has a European Assignment Clause in his contract with the Rangers which means that he has the right to play in Europe if not on the Rangers roster. (Cap Friendly)

Buchnevich would likely return to the KHL rather than play in the AHL.

At least in the case of Viktor Tikhonov's contract in 2008 with the Coyotes, if the player is sent down he can return to Europe but if he is called up he has to return to the team. (Coyotes)

Agent Steve Bartlett explains that the clause gives players an out to go back and play overseas if they are more comfortable.

Section 11.19 of the CBA: Loan To Clubs Outside of North America may refer to this clause.

Fellow European players like Artemi Panarin, Sergei Plotnikov, Sami Aittokallio, Valeri Nichushkin also have these clauses in their contract.

Let's hope he doesn't turn into Marchessault, spurning our offer, signing elsewhere and eventually blossoming. Now Marchessault was actually offered an ELC from us and not an AHL deal, but it's a similar situation. We don't want to lose him and then see him flourish elsewhere.

Jensen has no chance of making this team. From what I saw he has no NHL talent. He's a career AHL player. Graves should make the team next year. With Gropp next in line.

Yes, generally these clauses are for guys that don't want to play in the AHL

So essentially, if he gets assigned to the AHL, he has the right to go back to the KHL without penalty, should he so choose

Buch has the same clause, a lot of younger Russian players do

LOL, so the 32 goal scorer in the AHL (on the worst team in the league) has no NHL talent but the WHL 'overager' who didn't dominate is next in line for an NHL spot? I want to smoke what ur smoking.

To be fair, Jensen showed nothing during his cup of coffee with the Rangers.

Not sure I agree that Jensen has nothing, but Gropp did completely dominate the second half of the year. Like 2 PPG dominant.

Gropp has a playing style that better translates to the NHL though. Jensen is a great AHL player, but I don't see him making it.

I don't think Jensen is anything special, i just thought his statement was absolutely ridiculous.
Jensen is probably a fine 4th liner in the NHL on a team with less depth, while Gropp is still pretty far away, needs atleast 1 season in the AHL, probably 2-3 before he makes it, if he ever makes it.

Seattle was losing 1-0 just a few minutes ago and then proceeded to score three goals in one minute. Gropp had an assist on a PP goal and just missed getting an assist on the 2nd goal.
