3-1 Rouyn-Noranda now in the 3rd. Fontaine no assist on the last goal but was positioned in the crease to grab a rebound. He's very good at establishing himself there. Anyway...no rebound came out, as the goalie instead let in a soft goal.

Revel: With Rouyn-Noranda eliminated, right winger Antoine Waked is a free agent. Did you get a chance to see him play and do you think he has any potential? The Rangers would have seen a lot of him this year watching Fontaine.

QUOTE=Revel;131087975]Very sad night in Rouyn-Noranda. Gave up the 3-1 lead in the 3rd and then lost in OT.

Fontaine is eliminated.[/QUOTE]

Ric, I'll unfortunately have to tell you what I tell most people. When it comes to CHL hockey, I key in on our own prospects and tend to ignore the rest. I'm a pathetic fanboy in that regard...not a great hockey observer.

Posters here like ManUtdTobbe and Steve Kournianos tend to watch the same games I try to watch...but they have much greater hockey minds and pay closer attention to other players on the ice than I do.

Maybe one of them will chime in. Sorry bud.

No problem: Appreciate all of the work you do in reporting on our prospects.

My 2 cents, he's got a very good shot, good skater with nice hands and decent size... He's been injured lately though and i watched most of my Huskies games late so i haven't seen him THAT much.

His /60 rates look good but nothing spectacular, they're very similar to Alexandre Fortin on his team.

I don't think i would use an ELC on him but he could definitely be an option on an AHL prove it deal just like Joly got... Wouldn't surprise me if Waked did get an ELC somewhere though..

1G, 1A for Gropp and the first star of the game. Absolutely wonderful game. I watched 2 NHL games go to OT, and then Seattle in a thriller with a 5-4 win over Kelowna

Can you provide any scouting report? I am interested to see how he performs in the playoffs and just in general how he attacks a game with this much weight on it aside from the obvious stats.

It was a very up-and-down game. Kelowna has some great players and that top-line of Gropp-Barzal-Kolesar just doesn't seem to be doing it for them lately. Whenever he is on True's line, Gropp seems to be playing better. True is more a player like Stepan. Someone who sets up his line-mates. That is exactly what Gropp needs. He dominates at times, and seems to be their go-to-guy when Barzal isn't playing great. I am not really impressed with his defense at the moment though

Gropp has grown this season. I am sure he needs a year or two at pro-level (AHL) but he definitely has the skillset you need to make it. Not top-6 NHL potential, but he can be a very solid 3rd line winger with PP minutes added in a few years.

Gropp, like Day, has the skills you can't train. And his limitations are all fixable. It will be great for Gropp and his development if the T-birds win the W and go to the Mem.

So basically Gropp can be like a slightly lesser version of Duclair, but without the attitude issues?

I think that is a good way to describe Gropp. We just have to hope his game translates well to the NHL. And it might be 2 or 3 years before he is really able to show his skill at that level

Gropp has a better shot but that is about it, the Duke is faster and quicker, much better at stick handling and is better on D. 19 year old that made the show vs one that was playing in JRs.
Gropp is getting better, but his game has almost no similarities to the Duke. Very different players.

Different types, yes. But I see similar upside. 3rd line player in the NHL with PP minutes. Gropp is a more composed player. Not a flashy as Duclair but I feel his style of play suits the pro-level better than Duclair's

T-Birds beat the Rockets in Kelowna, 2-1 and take a 2-1 lead in game 3. Kolesar (CLB pick) scored both goals. Barzal, Gropp, Ottenbreit (Attended our training camp last year) had the assists.

Regina lost 2-1 to Lethbridge, Zboro ended the game with a +1 while former Tips-captain Dawson Leedahl scored the lone goal for the Pats.
