Okay, but how has he been better than Shestyorkin? That was my main contention, the other part is a side note.
If you look at Brad Morrison's season, I think he was leading the WHL in scoring a few weeks in. This is not a high level of hockey. I think if you have to look at the season in stretches instead of the whole, there obviously is something wrong with the full data. I think 100 points would've been a fair expectation for Gropp this season. Its nice he had a good second half, but overall, he had what I'd consider a lackluster season for someone who might be expected to be a skilled NHL top 9 forward. It doesn't mean he can't be an NHL'er. There are plenty of NHL'ers who underachieve in junior and plenty of non-NHL'ers who overachieve in junior, but at best, I would say Gropp had an average season, and really, probably a below-average season, given what expectations should've been.
