Why does Colorado need to get rid of Beauchemin? He's only got one year left on his deal, it's not like they need to clear cap space.

Don't want nothing to do w Beauchemin. He is done, looked like a pylon against us and has another year at 4.5 mil left again next year.

Duchene as good as he may be is a 5.5 mil a year player w only 2 years left until he walks away as we have no room to pay him.

How do we sign Toffoli and Pearson if we take on the additional salary?

Makes no sense to me.

as i stated before avs would probably retain on Beauchemin and/ take greene back (depending on health) to open another d spot to protect

Text from an LA source..."The deal on the table is Muzzin and #1 prospect Kempe for Matt Duchene and Francois Beauchemin...The Avalanche want LoDue.... but he is untouchable"

Consider the source and can't see the Avs doing that, esp since they want a #1 pick as part of the deal. And they don't have to move him now, they can wait for June.

Could be why the Rangers are now interested. They need a defenseman and maybe if Duchene's price tag is high, the kings are looking elsewhere.

I would rather have Landeskog then Duchene Landeskog is bigger more physical and better defensive which to me is a better fit. I think getting muzzin would make the avs more into a retooling team then a traditional rebuild. Getting a top pairing defense man in his prime and a young offensive gift player with there pick would go a long way to getting the team into the playoff hunt. Also the cap they would save could go to another upgrade somewhere.

Who on the ranger would we be looking at Nash is the only one i could see the rangers giving up and hes to expensive.

agreed, they have a ton of cap space and I imagine will be in on Shattenkirk and/or Alzner this summer

I think Duchene replaces the Richards role which is currently vacant (the on ice role) and Beauchemin replaces the Mitchell/Greene/Regehr role which is also vacant. These 2 slots are vital to Sutter with the way he coaches.

Duchene and Richards are two very different players?

You're not gonna find an exact copy of a player, the role needs to be filled. Shore and Dowd don't do what Richards/Stoll/Lecavalier can do. When it comes playoff time as a coach you'd rather have Duchene out there than Dowd or Shore. Also gives Sutter more line combinations since we know he doesn't do a Top 6 or set lines.

Duchene is a great player, seeing him slotted in a 3rd line role would be a waste of his talent. Especially with him most likely playing with someone like King/Lewis in that situation.

Mike Richards and Jarret Stoll were more suitable 3rd line centers. Physical, good in faceoffs, and some of the best PK'ers.

Derek Forbort I would argue has replaced Mitchell's role.

Forbort is exactly what Mitchell was, except Forbort is a better skater.

Obviously Forbort doesn't have that leadership skill yet.

Or Nasty.

If Bogosian could stay healthy he would be a great guy to pair with Forbort on the second pairing. Use Gravel on the 3rd with a right hand shot PP specialist

The deal was rumored Muzzin/LaDue going the other way.

Speaking of LaDue and that rumor, Elliotte Friedman mentioned him on Calgary's sportnet 960 show this morning , that although John Hoven (and he thinks he's a good reporter, covers the kings well) said that LaDue is 'untouchable' that is not what he heard. That LaDue might be called up to be showcased as part of a trade.

So if DL is serious about Landeskog or Duchene, and he was part of that trade talk, maybe the Avs want to see him in the NHL first.

Time will tell...

Sly old Dean.

"LaDue is untouchable" sounds like some misinformation that was put out there. Make LaDue seem like a higher end prospect than he really is. Raise his value up a bit.

If the Kings are THAT high on him, he must be good!

La, Du or LaDue, what will D. Lo do?

Under Sutter we all know Duchene would get his minutes, it would just give him more flexibility than he has now.

I have a feeling that IF there's a newsworthy trade it wouldn't be what has been floated out there over and over since they'd start with muzzin/martinez + A prospect + 1st...

some forward names "possibly available" that like to see them go after with prospects / young guys and picks... Palat/Johnson (TBL), Tatar/Nyquist (DET), R. Strome (NYI).
