CZ:

Liberec
Sparta
Plzen
Vitkovice
Mlada Boleslav
Pardubice

Its only prediction as all the top teams ussually loose entire line in the end of the sesaon. Especially Liberec is significantly weaker on paper. But thats probably same everywhere.

What's the system? What do the teams have to do to get into CHL? I mean, Pardubice and Vitkovice were pretty bad last year, how are they in CHL?

Shame Kometa Brno didn't get there, they are so stacked this year.

I evaluated only czech CHL teams and it was mostly based on what I saw from them this preseason. I definetely didnt evaluate any other aspects like financial health youth categories etc. Just an opinion.

I think Sparta and Liberec will be on top again. Plzen should be also consistent and stay around 3-5 spot. I was very immpressed by Vitkovice performance in CHL against Karpat so I put them higher, they deserve to advance imo. Pardubice can not be worse than they were in last two seasons and Boleslav - I dont know, they might be good later in extraliga but they look terrible so far.

Of course Kometa Brno and Trinec should be there both from financial and A team quality perspective. But they are not CHL teams.

Not long ago i wrote that this year would be the year Saik lost their powerhorse status, well that is what happens. I think they wont make it to the top this year even in SHL.

They already won the group. What incentive did they have to go full on in that game?

He's saying that Skellefteå hasn't won their group. Vienna is two points behind them but they have also played two games less.

Oh, yeah. You're right. Pretty crazy that KalPa has 0 points but could still actually advance.

You're saying Vienna is a better team than Skellefteå?
I'm saying that that's what the results have shown, so you shouldn't attempt to discredit either effort.

And the number of points each team has is simply due to the schedule structuring with Austria having OGQ. Whining about games not yet played is pretty petty.

My mistake. Sorry bout that.

SAIK - Vienna 57-24 in shots. 8-30 in PP mins.. SAIK getting scored on on their own Power Play. That's just embarrassing. The hell were they doing in that game?

SAIK is better obviously but going into the SHL season idk how they'll do there the teams are all better than Vienna there.

They do look a bit suspect but a few games into the SHL season and I expect them to be a lot better than what they have displayed so far. They are absolutely a Swedish powerhouse and I don't see them falling off the map any time soon.

Belfast are that good are they? That's a bit of a surprise. But pretty cool. I expected Braehead
to be near the top.

I'd say Belfast and Braehead are pretty much on the same level with Nottingham and Sheffield clearly on the level above at the moment.

what happens now? Lakers goes to 4-0 against minsk....with 4 seconds left of the match

wow thats sad. Is Minsk out? lol what a way to go...

EC Salzburg beats HV71 to advance to the KO rounds, three goals over Sheffield and they take the group as well. Vienna really self-destructed in the last 10 minutes against Kalpa or they would have been on their way as well. A point against Kalpa at home locks it up, a win in regulation takes that groups as well.

And Yunost Minsk, just, barely, knocked, out, incredible. Mlada Boleslav from the Czech Extraliga to the next round.

CHL twitter:

"@vaxjolakers top the Group L, @HCJUNOST take 2nd place!"

huh, that makes no sense. Someone needs to explain this

There must be a mistake. Unless CHL has a totally different & weird rule for ranking teams, Mlada Boleslav should advance. They're better than Yunost in every aspect. They shared one wins apiece and are on same goal difference BUT Mlada Boleslav scored more goals, both in general and away in Minsk. In any kind of tie-breaker, Mlada Boleslav leads for having scored more goals away (lost in Minsk 4-3, won in Czech Republic 3-2) and in general (they scored 12, Mlada Boleslav 10).

By the way, what's wrong with Lulea? Or, what was? Did they simply not care at all or what?

I think I get it

Minsk advances because they scored the most goals in one game against Boleslav. 4-3 vs 3-2

Luleå had a pretty bad silly....but still, they shouldnt be this bad...I think

That is correct. When two teams are tied the first tie- breaker is the most points gathered from the games between the two teams. In this case they have 3 points each from those two games.

The second tie- breaker is the goal differential from those two games. Which in this case was also a tie with both teams having 6-6. Which also ment that they tied on the third tie- breaker as well, which is most goals scored between the two teams (which is a weird tie- breaker to have after goal differential from the games between the two teams.... as it solves nothing if they had the same goal differential).

Anyway. That leads us to the fourth tie- breaker, which is the most goals scored in one of the games between the two teams. That is 4 for Minsk and 3 for Boleslav. So Minsk advances.

As for Luleå.... it's hard to say. They had a really weak start last season and almost got an early exit in the CHL as well, but got their game together later in the season. Their team feels weaker than what they had last year though. If someone would have asked me about which Swedish team that was most likely to not advance from the group stage, before the CHL started, I would have said Luleå. Their group looked to be the thoughest in relation to the quality of the Swedish team in it.

All swedish teams won their group, Sweden is dominating this tournament every year. Only Luleå did not succed, but they have a terrible team this year.

Yeah, so did the Swiss. I know you are going to mention Djurgarden and Davos, but they have the same points (8).
