All swedish teams won their group, Sweden is dominating this tournament every year. Only Luleå did not succed, but they have a terrible team this year.

- NLA teams have the highest PPG so far followed by SHL and Liiga
- Vienna can still go ahead of SAIK
- Luleå - good or bad - represents the quality of swedish teams as much as any other SHL team
- Too many easy games in the group stage for alot of the top teams to jump into conclusions
- Play-offs are the deciding factor

No room in the schedules. No other option right now. It would require some leagues to shorten their regular season (talking about Liiga).

I'm sure they'll find a way if the tournament keeps on growing. I'm starting to like it, but having no KHL teams does hurt the tourney. And the groups phase should start at about this time, rather than end...

I agree. That's what I liked about the first champions hockey league in 2008/09: KHL teams, the group stage started at a point in the regular season where the teams had already formed and there was some money to win as a motivation for the teams. However, back then there were only 12 participating teams.

Really hope that the changes next year will boost this tournament and that it will keep getting better...

The group stage used to last longer (might have been in the European throphy era) with some games spread out during the regular season. But that was with larger groups as well.

We will get larger groups again next year, so it will be interesting to ser hos they handle the schedule.

so Finland with 7 teams in the playoffs again? This is just boring. They should lower the amount of teams from Finland and put some other countries teams there. Last year half of the quarter-final teams were from Finland if i remember correctly.

So, all finnish teams, all swiss teams and all except one swedish teams qualified to the play-offs. Cant decide if this means more or less parity to the tournament with the swiss joining finns and swedes as the dominant force...

Too bad Mannheim couldnt advance alot better crowd than in Tampere. Also feel kind of sorry for Esbjerg. ******* HIFK for making those poor danes think they have a legit chance of advancing (won against Helsinki on home soil and needed only one point in the last game against them) just to be toyed with and humiliated in Helsinki 7-0.

Berlin instead of Luleå. That is a win for the tournament. Glad they made it out of the group stage. Great fans.

Swiss teams with fairly easy matchups. Finns with the hardest. Could mean they fall in the rankings and the Swiss end up with 5 teams vs Finlands 4.

Lol there will be max 3 finnish teams in the next round.

Kärpät-Sparta Prague

Now thats interesting. I see that my team wont last long in this tournament

Vaxjö? They got one of the easier matchups. Next round they'll be up against either Saipa or Tappara. Not an impossible task.

München is germanys only hope in this tournament. I wouldnt be surprised if it ends there

We tend to be terrible at that time of year, we play our best at the end of the season.....unless it changes this year

2 at the minimum 6 at max..? Or what do you mean.

Sure, hardest match ups for the finns but that is justified as many of them finnished 2nd in group thats why there are fin-fin match ups as well.

Frölunda almost fell to a german team last year. Can't remember which. Won in OT. Not saying it will be easy.

Absolutely. Being the runner up in the group should have consequences. Not always the case, however.
I count it to 6 Finnish teams?

Yes 6, for some reason had in my mind that there were 7 finnish teams to begin with :)

TPS-HIFK - a toss up, could go either way
SaiPa-Tappara - hoping for SaiPa but Tappara takes this one
Kärpät-Prague - Kärpät
Djurgården-KalPa - Djurgården
HV71- Lukko - 48-52. Lukko in the top -4 both previous CHL seasons so a slight edge to them?
SAIK-JYP - 60-40

My two cents for the match ups including finnish teams. For the rest, swedes and swiss are favorites but the odds are some will fall.
