Here to give props to Aube-Kubel, Came away very impressed with his effort. Long shot to crack roster probably, but certainly plays the game the right way.

How is Juulsen looking? Really hoping he makes the team

Solid, my guess is they're going to take 7 dmen over, in which case I could see our lines looking like this,

Sanheim-Hicketts
Dermott-Juulsen
Fluery-Chabot
Hickey

Still too early but Roy didn't impress me much when I saw him, not a great skater compared to these guys. Mckeown was pretty damn terrible aswell.

Am I the only one who thinks this roster looks noticeably weaker than the ones of years past though? Obviously still one of the best but I don't think it's great for Canadian standards, as of right now I don't expect them to win the WJC

Liked from last night:
Konecny
Point
Virtanen
Aube-Kubel
Fleury
Chabot
Chlapik
Zboril

Disliked:
DeBrusk (awful every time I've seen him play)
Beauvillier
Barzal (still love the player, but bad game for him)
Gauthier (fast but raw and penalty magnet)
McKeown

The defence is a bit lacking, but the goaltending is fine and the forwards look better than usual in my opinion. From the last five years, this team looks at least as good on paper as 2014, 2012 and 2011. That's going with the optimistic assumption that only Ekblad, McDavid and Bennett will be missing come tournament time.

Strongly disagree. The offence will be very strong imo, and defence looks good as of now. I'm pretty confident in this team. If all the players are availabe, I call the offence extremely dangerous. We'll see. I expect Barzal to find his game back, in that case, he's one of the most talented third-line centers Canada has had in many years imo.

If the defense was stronger maybe. I'd rather use the depth to make a great defensive line that's very good offensively rather than a great offensive line that's decent to good defensively.

But I think Barzal at #3C works one of two ways #1 We're the best team in the tournament shell everyone offensively, and don't run into a hot goalie. #2 We struggle against teams like USA, and Russia because they can shut down our stars easier than we can to theirs.

The game today starts at 7pm PT correct?

Looking forward to the game. Hopefully Virtanen steamrolls some russians to make up for the McCann hit :(

Ho-sang imo has been one of the big stand outs this entire tourney so far.
