Not been a lot of rounds in the chamber. Many years have seen us walking out with draft classes of around 4 players.

The draft can be a bit of a crap shoot and you often want more shots in the dark rather than less. Constantly trading draft assets every single season means they basically have to strike gold with what few assets they have left.

Drafts have been uncommonly shit lately, haven't they?

Chevy said from day one we were a draft and develop team until such time we got good then he would trade picks to add to the team if need be. I don't think you can just hope all your draft picks become hits you have to take a chance once in a while. I just think people make it sound too easy on here to have a great team in Winnipeg sometimes.

I had a good chuckle with my coffee this morning looking into some depth pieces.

I saw Soucy floating around on some trade boards. Just wanted to take a peak.

He's a 3rd pair D, with a FULL NMC for this season. It drops down to a 12 team list next season, but come on.

There's no planet where a player of Soucy's ilk, especially, should be able to veto any trade at the deadline.

The league has lost the plot in that regard.

Yep it’s a lot of money and most ppl would do anything for it, till you realize that you can have it and your choice of destinations. We are not talking bout Heinola or Stan who will play for anyone who will pay them.

I don't think that's accurate.

The Rantanen/ Necas swap was player for player who were going to explore FA, thought Necas does have an extra year of term.

In my mind, the only way the Jets actually land Rantanen is if Ehlers is going the other way and he expresses a willingness to re sign there.

Otherwise, Carolina would be better served just keeping him as an own rental.

I don't think the Jets are trading a top 6 forward with team control for a rental.

Yup. The Canes would only contemplate trading Rantanen for a very good roster player with term. Otherwise, they would just keep him as their high-end rental.

From the Jets, it would have to be Ehlers (with an extension), or perhaps Vilardi going the other way to match the price the Canes paid (Necas ++).

I think that if Nelson would agree to a trade to Winnipeg Chevy can put together a trade package that would beat most others. Friedman continues to say that Chevy is ready to cash in on a high-end trade but that he's constrained by availability of players due to trade protections.

Even if she's a SoCal girl, I'm sure she sees, appreciates and supports the situation Gabe finds himself in here with regards to his career. I'm not sure what he really values, but he's becoming a centrepiece on a team that can possibly contend for the next 3-5 years. For some, that opportunity is more important than climate, shopping and dining experiences

Yeah, adding a guy today for picks likely also means losing someone on waivers to accommodate their roster spot. Doesn't make sense for two games between now and Friday

We need a 25 to 40% cap at NMC/ntc. Negotiate it for the next CBA!!

I do find it hilarious that GMs handcuff themselves with NMC to crappy players at the end of their careers. Really if you need to give one to secure mediocre bottom 6 pieces your better off going to the next player in line or to promote a prospect.

Reilly Smith I guess is also off the table, his NTC includes all of Canada so it's at least equal opportunity.

I'd like to see an unprotected (no trade clauses) available trade list of pending UFAs.

Donato is probably #1on that list.
