I'm guessing Schmaltz will end up making the team. He just looked so uninterested last year. When he's on his game, he can be a really dominant force.

AmericanDream, what's this about Hanifin being released? Speculation or do you know something? :)

Even without Eichel and Larkin, this team looks scary. I got USA winning Group A

And maybe even Gold this year, unless they play Russia in the QF

 Yeah Russia seems to have our number in this tournament. Last year I drove up to see the NTDP U-17's play the Russian U-17 select team in the 4 Nations Cup in Ann Arbor and the U.S. lost to them in a great game. That same Russian team beat the U.S. U-17's in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Sarnia a month earlier. But watching that one you see that Russia has some depth at the 98 birth year. Should be fun to watch them when they get to the U20 level.

I feel as though it would be a mistake to leave out Garland and DeBrincat with the seasons they've been having, but there's a lot of competition for those spots on the right wing with Garland, Schmaltz, Tuch, Boeser, Bracco, Roslovic and DeBrincat all being able to play there.

I think right now i'd include them both and set up the forward group as follows:

Tkachuk - Matthews - Roslovic
Milano - Schmaltz - Garland
Connor - White - Tuch
Dvorak - DeBrincat - Boeser/Bracco
Bracco/Boeser

Defence is a lot harder to call, but either way the US should be able to do some serious damage in this tournament.

Garland in a top 6 role with 2 other play makers? Thats not going to work. Boeser also has the best shot on the team, he should be put in a scoring role or at least given a chance not the 13th forward.

Per Bob McKenzie:

Alex DeBrincat (Erie) will be amongst those announced tomorrow as attending @usahockey nat'l jr camp. Jeremy Bracco (Kitchener) will not.

Interesting. I thought Bracco had a decent shot to make the team, and not even invited to camp, that surprises me.

He was the last cut last year and this year he doesn't even make the camp invites? What the heck lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of the reasons why Bracco was left off being they are playing on Euro ice this year. Skating.

@bracco's skating, why are people talking about his skating? It's phenomenal..

That's silly suggestion.

No it's not...the fact Bracco is not going to be on the team let alone invited to camp is a complete joke. He left BU not too long ago and it likely has to do with that. Also not at least inviting Garland to camp for a look is a mistake. USA hockey is a joke! Plus Ron Wilson is the coach...that guy is absolute clown.

You may disagree with the choices to leave them home, but there's no evidence to suggest it's because they play in the CHL.

USA Hockey continues to be vindictive about certain players going to the CHL.

You say that, when in literally the same tweet, Mckenzie says that they're inviting DeBrincat.

Maybe it's just that they don't want a million undersized guys who have to play in the top 6, when there isn't room. Or the fact that there are about 20 guys performing at a level similar or significantly better than Bracco.

The guy broke the all time assist record for the USA development team. It's most definitely a snub.

Darn. I was hoping Garland would get a shot against the best juniors in the world.

I think the camp will be mostly older ( 96's ) that are very responsible in their own zone. Most of them can score too.

This will be a "team". There will be specific roll players for pk, Dzone faceoffs, etc.

There are going to be a few more snubs so get prepared.
