Seen him play about 8 times the last 2 years and IMHO Debrincat could make every team in this tourney.
This opinion is based on faithfully watching every WJHC tourney the last 30+ years and attending 3 of them.
But I can't speak for his competition that isn't in the OHL.

But will he make Team USA?.....

Yes, I think he makes Team USA.

According to the London Free Press, Tkachuk, Dvorak, and Parsons are all expected to be invited to WJC camp. The first two aren't a surprise, but I hadn't heard Parsons name mentioned before.

He might get the nod over Halverson who hasn't had a good year. Or, maybe they bring four in. Could all be OHL goalies which would be interesting.

New contributor here from Atlantic Canada. For starters, I think one could make a STRONG argument that the U.S. has the most potent offence in the tournament this year. Do not at all be surprised if come January the U.S. leave Finland with a gold medal.

However, as someone from Atlantic Canada who has seen Conor Garland play frequently over the past two seasons, I'm astounded that someone who has 65 points in 26 games in the Q isnt a shoe in for this team. In fact, if this kid was Canadian, I can say with confidence that he would 100 percent make the Canadian roster.

Maybe you guys are seeing some faults in this kid that I'm not, but can someone explain clearly to me why he isnt being considered a front runner to make this team, let alone might not even be at camp?

Remember, this is a short tournament. Going with the hot hand in a lot of cases is the best way to go. For example, Dal Colle to me has no business making the Canadian roster with how he has played this season. Its about the now.

Great posts by everyone overall. Love the competitiveness in the U.S. roster selection over any other team. Like I said, watch out for the U.S. this year. Cant wait for boxing day!

How's Garland's defensive play?

I think 5 of the 6 top 6 spots are pretty much locked in.

Milano - Matthews - Tuch
Tkachuk - Dvorak - xxxxx

and then you have Debrincat ripping up the O as well. I'm not sure who you'd slot into that 2nd line but if it's not Garland how does he fit in the bottom 6?

the US is absolutely stacked up front, if Garland doesn't make it, it's more of a testament to that rather than Garland himself.

Also Hockey USA hasn't said anything yet, anyone here posting is just making a guess like you would, so like I said to the person complaining about Debrincat's potential role on the team no reason to complain about HF speculation, nothing is really known yet.

He plays in the CHL as an American.

Could his defence use work? Yes. Is it a problem? No. He is tied for 4th in the Q with a +23 rating, mind you he does have 65 points. So I guess take from that what you will.
However, his offensive skill can't be denied. At a tournament like this, I think he would fit in great on the third line and provide some offence to the bottom 6.
Youre right as well about USA Hockey not saying anything yet. They have been very quiet.
Should him and Debrincat both make this team? Probably in my personal opinion.

Plus, they could sport a third line that consists of the best freshmen in the NCAA, all over a PPG.

Connor-White-Boeser

That's three guys who could have very easily been top 15 picks last year, on their third line. As a Canadian, uh-oh.

Amazing line

Yeah. I can't wait to see this team. The more I get to know about this offence, the more excited I am.

The main reason you see a lot of projections sans Garland is because he was one of the cuts at the summer camp. It doesn't mean he can't/won't be at the upcoming camp, or on the team, but it definitely makes it less likely.

Roslovic is over a point per game too:naughty:

Not trying to sound like a homer or someone that pushes their prospects. Doubt he deserves top6 , the US has a strong team, but Bracco would look nice on that wing. Not comparing to Marner at all, but he would bring a familiarity that both Dvorak and Tkachuk have been seeing all year. Bracco is a very creative player and likes the puck. Would be fun to watch.
