The Nylanders - When the apples falls CLOSER to the tree. (Ketchup-MacInnis-Donato)

Gotta say im falling for Alexander Nylanders and Timashovs chemistry with each other. They give me the same feeling Andre Pettersson provided when bursting pucks on all the terrified goalies back in 2010. Almost.

Maybe we are seeing a Zlatan-effect here? When the star isn't playing the others elevate their game in ways they otherwise never would. And also the team as a whole plays alot better?

A little concerned with number 3 and 5 though. ZERO hockeysense. Almost every time I see them with the puck it's a bad decision. It's gonna cost alot in a gold medal game.

Edit: Also who are the idiots who trashed on Söderström? That kid is ****ing awesome. He gave me 2012 gustafsson vibes with his ice cold veins.

Yeah, those two D handle the puck like a grenade but I think they've been pretty solid without the puck so far.

Oh my, youre one of them....
Yeah, without Zlatan, Sweden would be so much better eh?... Please.

Of what I saw, theres not enough speed in swedens game, only Kempe and JFK had some, and Kempes puck handling-skills are, well, not so great. Nylander and Timashow dwarfed in size and speed compared to the Matthews and Werenskis on the US side. W Nylander had that speed, and Swedens gonna miss it come crunch time. Agree on Holmström, his skating sucks and he made alot of bad decisions

Nylander is going to be back by the Canada game, if not earlier. We will be fine if he actually is healthy

I'd say the earliest he's back is the Canada game. 5 days symptom free would be the Canada game. I expect they want to wait 7 days symptom free. Back for quarters.

Hopefully that's the case. Losing one preliminary game is not the whole world, no reason to rush him.

Agree hopefully that is the case it depends on how the team doctors feel. no point in rushing him back and it would be nice to see him play against his future leaf teammate marner but his health is more important.

Is it just me or is the line with Holmström, Lindblom and Kempe a bit of a mismatch?

Three very good players in different surroundings but together it becomes very obvious they lack speed, creativity and/or stickhandling ability. One of them need to be replaced by a more natural playmaker.

Not sure who that could be with William Nylander out though.

Holmström is really dragging the other two down on that line. He's not been very good at all in the three games I've seen (canada pre, switzerland, usa)

Looks slow and uninterested.

To be fair, he has always been a bit glorified. He'll be an alright SHL-player, though, and thats not half-bad. But an NHLer? I really cant see it.

He just doesn't have the skating ability. If he ever want to get anywhere near the NHL it needs to be improved VASTLY.

I think with Holmstrom, Kempe's great skating along with Lindblom vastly improved skating makes Holmstrom look extremely slow & awkward.

I wouldn't be opposed to William Nylander playing with Lindblom & Kempe. Lindbolm & Nylander have had chemistry during the U-18s and last years WJC. I dont see a reason why they would have switched that up. I know they wanted the Nylander brothers together but I think they should have kept the Lindblom-W.Nylander connection together.

No one gave Söderström **** many felt that Sandström was the better option though. But that obviously must've been wrong, unbelievable performance.

His namesake managed quite the NHL career without being able to skate very well.

When that Holmström broke into the NHL there was much less emphasis on skating than there is today. Axel is also a very different player apart from the fact that he also seems to be a very good net front presence

Did anyone actually confirm that Nylander had a concussion? Or are they following protocol, just in case? I don't think he's had any symptoms whatsoever. Probably because the initial impact of the hit was on his shoulder. So if he never had one, he could easily play tomorrow.

The amount of times I've seen players look like that in all the sports I've watched, I'd be shocked if he DIDN'T have a concussion.

Then again, I'm no doctor, and it could be one of those neck injuries that have similar symptoms.

IN saying that, if I had to bet, I'd probably lean towards him having a concussion.

Well yeah, that's what I'm saying. We're all assuming he had one, but the reports coming from his camp say the opposite. Well, maybe not in exact words but the tone has been pretty positive since just some hour(s) after the hit. Which is why I personally don't think he ever had one.

Still had him skipping the game against USA just to be absolutely sure that no setbacks would come and that there was no actual concussion. That's my take on it anyways.

Basically every indication so far is concussion protocol, but not that he had one. First he had a rest day, then a light exercise day, today likely some harder excercise and tomorrow he can be back on the ice, but perhaps without contact. If he needs a full contact practice he might not play in the group stage, but should be cleared for the QF. If he had a setback he'd be sent packing already.

So yeah, I guess we'll see if he plays tomorrow against Denmark or not. If he does - safe to say he never had one? It would be super-irresponsible otherwise.
