Why even hold a press conference if they can't comment anything other than "he is feeling better"? Just freaking tell us if he is concussed or not

If i'm not mistaken the symptoms of a concussion can sometimes come a day or two after. And "feeling better" can atleast rule out some worst case scenarios like hjärnblödning or bigger nerve damage if he hurt his neck/back/spine.

Seems like we lose star players every single year, during the WJC.

Usually by the hands of Canada though..

With Aho out, can someone explain how Kylington wasn't invited? We only have one offensive defenceman now, in Forsling, and he's not even registered yet due to also being injured...

What's the word on Nylander and Kempe? Is it possible that the tourney is over for both of them?

If so, Sweden can still add a skater because they didn't register Forsling, right?

What I'm trying ask here is, why are people speculating what d-man to recall if they can't add Forsling... shouldn't they call a forward instead? Because it's heckuva lot easier to soldier on using just six d-men than 11 forwards.

The only report so far about Nylander is that he is feeling a lot better, but they do not want to comment on if it is a concussion or not. I my guess is that he will not play against USA no matter if it is a concussion or not, they want to be sure before they start playing him again.

Kempe seems to be just fine, and would probably have finish the game if it was a more importent game.

Well, that's good to hear. I mean, losing Aho probably royally sucked as it was, and it would suck even more if Willie and Kempe were sidelined as well. I was already starting to think that somebody's playing with a voodoo doll somewhere.

Kempe said post-game that he will play monday. Still don't know what the issue with William is the team doctor was a bit cagey when giving an interview on William's condition, but she did say that he was back with the team at the hotel resting and feeling better.

My guess is Leafs will pull him back asap

Nylander could very well still have a concussion, and yes that would be a huge blow. Nylander is absolutly the biggest star in the team, even if Timashov maybe have been the best player overall in this games including the pre-games.

But yes good that Kempe is fine.

I do not think they can. But either way I hope the doctors have his long term career in intrest and would not let him play if they can not rule out concussion or something like that.

Lindblom needs to pick it up. He had a lot of chances missed either by shooting wide or passing it away. Homer is holding that line together, but he can't do both the setups and scoring. I'm not sure Lindblom and Kempe fits on the same line.

Tbf he hit the underside of the crossbar and the side of the goalies helmet/top of shoulder on two shots, he was also constantly getting free to be in a position to get good chances, hence the high number of shots (and the jammed goal). He also set up Nylander with that nice cross-ice long pass on the PP in the 1st that required a diving block.

I mean, it was not his best game and no-where near what we have seen him do in the SHL (where he has taken over shifts and shone over his line-mates at times) but he played ok. He played pretty darn well in the last warm-up game vs Canada as well.

I agree on Kempe and Lindblom though... especially with Homstrom in the middle. They all play a game that is pretty similar (albeit not identical), all good board-workers, around the net and two-ways... if Nylander gets back I would like one of Kempe or Lindblom on his wing.

Actually if William comes back I would want him with Holmström and Lindblom again because Asplund looked amazing centering Alex and Tima of course this puts Kempe on a 3rd or 4th line which is not ideal but I think he and JFK and Eriksson Ek could be a 3rd "1st" line.

I totalt agree with you, was very impressed by Alex :)

There's not much speed in this team and that will probably be more evident against the better teams.

I get the impression that William is fine and will play more in this tournament unless symptoms start to show in the next few days, which they obviously could. Played great in the few shifts he got.

He's playing well but he still leaves me wanting a bit more.

How many players do team Sweden has now, 10? :)
How they manage the team with 3-4 keyplayers gone?

The title is tougher for them now. Alot easier for oponents from now on. Too bad the tournament loose its biggest star. And the much lesser one (Egli) is still in. Great IIHF, you are getting it...wrong so wrong.
(excuse me if it turns out Egli will be out).

Hopefully both Kempe and Forsling will be back for next game though.

Yes ofcourse, but he only been playing in that line for 40 minutes. Give him some more shift and i think it will be ok.

Also Alex Nylander, doesn't he look like an almost better version of his older brother?

I think the big issue and question mark against the US and Canada will be if the D can handle a tougher forecheck considering the majority of them have pretty dodgy hands and lacks puckmoving. You could see it every time Switzerland got a good forecheck going. For this team to be successful the forwards will have to give support deep and stay hot as hell in the good end. The transition game will be a problem.

The second Swedish doctor just inferred Nylander will be back in the tournament barring setbacks. Sounds like a concussion protocol thing to me.

Actually I think that Alex looks more like Bäckström than his older brother he is not "flashy" but makes a lot of good moves which are sometimes less noticeable.
