WJC: 2016 — Sweden Roster Talk

I'd much rather have Vejdemo on the team than Karlsson or Asplund. Olofsson was an easy cut.

Forsling did not practice today and could miss the first game. That would be a huge loss.

Team Sweden has

SHL experience: 897 GP
Allsvenskan experience: 169 GP
AHL experience: 88 GP

Very experienced and packed team. I have them as the favorites to win it all this year.

Englund may not be the best player on this team but he has leadership out the wazoo. Gives his all every night and is willing to sacrifice his body by blocking shots and playing physical. Good choice for captain should they choose the give him the C.

If Sandström gets healthy i bet my money on him.

Could probably bet the house on it. Söderström has done his best to play his way out of the starting position, not playing at all so far was favorable..

I have seen Kylington a few times this year in person and even more on TV, and I can't see how he doesn't add to the Swedish roster. He has played remarkably well for a 18 year old in the AHL and outside of the obvious deficiency in overall strength is, in my not so humble opinion, a fairly large upgrade on the olympic ice with his excellent average skating ability. He has been very good for a craptastic Stockton team.

Only playing in the AHL is not an advantage this year though, the guys on the team play in the SHL. I think the initial plan fell with Aho's injury, if they picked the team without Aho available he'd be there. Now they'll improvise a little instead with what they have, Pettersson scored a couple against Canada so it's not all lost.

The hockey federation though is worlds best. The hockey programs over here are educating NA and NHL teams. goalie trainers. Need i say more? And Defensemen.. Training and health, food and the whole leadarship thing. Any now swedes looses another player today.. Forsling is out

I dont think any player were particularly good through out the games. There were stretches for some players.

Not thrilled about this... This is probably the worst D core we have had in quite some time. When we have the offensive power..

it is little bit Grönborgs fault, since there where better players available, but 96 have better depth and top end talents among forwards then d-men.

It is typical, when we have the forwards we do not have the d-men. Maybe 98 can mix it together. Even if 98 seems to have a good depth among forwards but kind of lacks on d-men even more then 96, but 99 and 00 have some outstanding d-men talents, a player like Liljegren is probably already better then many on this team.

Wow, if both Forsling and Aho are out then Sweden is suddenly not looking so good. Tough break.

He has imo taken a little to many physical guys with him and left to many players a little more skilled at home, both at D and F.

If Forsling can't play who do they bring in? Kylington/Andersson?

I would probably go with Kylington, but I havnt seen either of them this season They both seem to have been good in the swedish U20 this season, Kylington have 4p and 1 goal in 3 games and Andersson have 4p and 3 goals in 4 games.

For those of you who're wondering, Kylington's got 4G-3A in 19 AHL games.

Andersson's got 7G-19A in 30 OHL games.

Can someone update me on Forslings Status when they get the chance?
I Understand im canadian but can someone tell me what was dirty in the game besides when Virtanen ran over The Tendy? I mean i understand that the way stick infractions work overseas are different then what players in NA are use to because it takes a lot more to draw a hook or a slash?

However can someone explain what you saw was dirty because i watched the entire game and i didnt see much wrong on either side

Why not give Liljegren a shot? If he's a top-3 prospect for next year I doubt he'd be out of place at all. (selfishly just want to see him play)

He would probably not look out of place, but why when you have Kylington and Andersson that already have played in U20 and done it good? They are safer picks at this moment, Liljegren is good but unproven. With that said it would be intresting to see.

Liljegren is just scary good for his age. Watched him dominate the U18 camp as an underager last week, him and Brännström are far better already than any 98-born D. I don't think either of them would look terribly out of place this tournament but it would be a massive gamble considering their age, it's not going to happen.
