Don't think his skating is near the same level.

Alex is also a great skater but he doesn't use it as much as William, I wish he did sometimes. William is just incredible with his edges, no player in this tournament can do some of the things he does.

Took a puck to the throat in the final preliminary game vs. Canada and was thus sidelined.

On the brights side, Sebastian Aho is still represented in Team Finland and keeps shining there. So, ever Sebastian Aho loyal in the ranks of fans of Team Sweden should consider switching their alliance to Team Finland.

Besides, the Finns will win gold.

No Rasmus Andersson, no Kylington, No Aho, no Nylander, Kempe or Kovacs and at the moment no Forsling. And almost NO goalies! Or Greenborg either, soon. Thank God for Ollas! And for not giving in before the game started, like Switzerland did.

Willie is a viking! If he really was hurt he wouldn't have stood up so soon. Many NHL games left.

i heard team Sweden is up at 19 players now, but still 3 key players is out. Sweden is on of few teams that can do it with few players and key players out. The hit on WN was kinda awful, but it sets pressure on one top team to try win it all. Hats off if they do it. I think Sweden get it too tough with those keyplayers out though

I'm probably for from alone on this, but I stand by that it was a bad decision to not add a R shooting defensman like Andersson in the team. Especially now that the players are dropping like flies. Timashov tho, hes everything I hoped he would be, so entertaining.

My guess is Leafs will pull him back asap

Yup

I think the same, i think the tournament is over for him.

The leafs will have final say in this

Same as when the panthers had final say on ekblad during a hit ihe received to the head in summer pre competition team canada summer evaluations 2 summers ago

Can they still add players or is it now set?

Yupp, hes entertaining, but I see a Tedenby in him. Will become an entertaining player to watch in the SHL

Just because Tedenby fail do not mean that Timashov will fail. I do not even think they are that similar. Tedenby was faster and played with more energy as I remember him. Timashov is a better playmaker. Tedenby lost his speed in AHL/NHL, which was his biggest asset, no surprise he fails then.

Timashov is also use to the the smaller rink. But with that said, I had a lot higher hopes for tedenby when he was young. He hasnt even been that good in SHL.

But sure every player can fail, but I do think Timashov stands a good chance of becoming a 60+p players, he have the skills for it. I give him a 50% chance.

I like Sweden but I like Nylander on the Leafs a whole lot more. I hope the Leafs are deciding after all the information has been relayed to them...if they say it's okay, I don't mind if Nylander plays.

Hockey is to much run by NHL, it would absolutly absurd if they could do that. The best for hockey would be if NHL would crash economically, so the players go somewhere else.

not sure, but they are of course do what they can when they want. I dont think they can do. Swedes say he stay with the team.

Of course NHL will fall some day as its form today. All "empires" does. for different reasons. KHL falls sooner. But i can be so wrong on that. KHL is so much more "Hockey than NHL.

Aside from the employee/employer factor between Nylander and the Maple Leafs, Sweden has as much claim on him as we do.

He is a Swede. I guarantee that if a NHL organization were to tell a Swede that he was not to play for Tre Kronor while on their payroll, that player would quickly look to get out of that situation.

National pride is a big thing. I don't like it when NHL fans come on to national team threads and claim his importance to their team over rules his obligation to the national program.

Nylander is the only roster player that is injured. Aho was never registered and Forsling will play today.

I want what is best for Nylander in the long term and do not what him to take to big risk in this tournament, it is not good for anyone. But I do not like that NHL have so much to say when it comes to national teams. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester city, Bayern Munchen etc do have very little to say in the biggest sport in the world when it comes to national team. So why should NHL clubs have so much to say when it comes to the national team in hockey?

NHL will probably be there as long as we live. Hopefully they can find a way to work around it.

I think Nylander will play more in this tournament. Apparently he's feeling normal and wants to play right now. He's most likely already fine but they won't play him for a couple of games due to precautionary reasons, which is obviously the right thing to do. I don't see Toronto calling him back unless he's showing symptoms or if they think he's going to be rushed back.

Ice hockey is a small tiny cake of the "sports world-cake", especially in comparing soccer, hockey is nothing, so NHL will of course ride the wave as long as they can. trouble it will be, but its the way they do business... for now.

Holmström is just too slow for this type of hockey. Karlsson-Ehn-Lööke are playing really well, should see more icetime.

Tbf though this game Holmstrom has been up against mainly the big line for the USA... while Karlsson-Ehn-Lööke have been playing vs the bottom six of the USA quite often.

USA has more than just one big line. Holmström just can't keep up and be a threat, too stationary for this north-south type of hockey.

Kempe however, boy did he turn on beastmode the last 5 minutes. Loved JFK's game as well.

I do know what you mean there... there were also 4-5 times in that game where it fell on Kempe or Lindblom to effectively play centre defensively as Holmstrom was still stuck up ice. He has to improve his skating... but his mechanics seem really poor. (compared to guys like say Laine and Holmstroms own line-mate Lindblom... who at one point were considered 'slow' but were ok technical skaters, just seemingly needed to grow into their frames and add lower body strength.)

JFK was awesome.
