Rumor: Cam Robinson " I spoke to GM's on what the price is for Boeser" .... 1st round pick and legit prospect is the cost

Think you'd be nuts to pay that for Boeser. He could help a lot of powerplays out there but he's slow as hell these days. A decent prospect and a lesser pick maybe. A 1st with not much else I could see.

Tampa needs him. Can't be going into the playoffs with Girgensons in the top 6. 1st + Geekie?
Boeser seems like the exact type of player that Tampa's management avoids, we're also not going to give up our two best assets for a rental lol

No. They really don't. Montreal's game relys on speed. Boeser is one of the slowest skaters in the league. Plus, why spend valuable assets on a pending free agent when playoffs are very unlikely?
Then why the would they be asking a top prospct and 1st round gross

very smart top line complimentary player who is injury shy and has three distinct modes: regular season safe, regular season push and playoffs push. regular season safe is kind of hard to take but he takes care of his defensive responsibilities and still gets his chiclets at a 50 point pace. sometimes you don't notice him for a whole game. regular season push he's ppg and a constant threat and you want him on your team. playoffs push he's clutch and you're confused who this player is.

overall he's not a leader but he follows leaders. very good guy to add if you have a good core.

A clearly worse player with rfa status.

But yeah, meat and potatoes type player or something like that.
You're missing the point, I'm not saying he's worse I'm saying that Boeser isn't the type of player that JBB trades premium assets for (and even if he was that return isn't happening).

Why?

I think the Canucks are keen on resigning him if Boeser gives in and signs for shorter term like 5-6 years.

They are also in a playoff battle for the wildcard.

What would be the hurry on accepting a 1st and a prospect offer now especially when it looks like it will be available right at the TDL with multiple suitors.

Boeser wants term, Canucks offering 8 ml x 5...

Canucks are concerned with his footspeed and given they aren't a fast team, and he lost his set up Man in Miller, he won't produce the same in Van

He needs to be on a fast team with a center who's a good passer. If so, He's an easy 40, if not he's 25 goals...so on another team he is well worth 8 mil x 7. On the canucks, not so much

Its about roster fit, and contract ask. Great kid, hard worker, tons of character and really cares, but given the mess in Van, its better they move him now.

Realistically, this is probably Boeser's last big contract, so term is going to matter a lot for earnings potential. If 5 years is the max they're offering him, I can't fault him for wanting to hit the open market.

I understand both sides here

Boeser is a great kid, character, loyal and hard worker and has earned a 8mil plus term contract given comps

However

The Canucks are slow
Boeser is not fleet of foot
Boeser is not a play driver, he's a great complimentary player who needs a fast team with a good set up man (Miller is now gone)
On a team like that, he's a 40 goal player, given the Canucks now, he's a 25 goal player and term will hurt given his speed and the canucks lack of speed as he ages

IMHO both sides are better off with him moving

Canucks will get quality assets back to help fill their many holes
Boeser gets his contract and hopefully to a team with the fast lineup and set up center and he can hit 40 consistently

Canucks and Boeser are just not a match any more

That may be true but you tried to tank Boeser's value by saying Jeannot was a younger player with rfa status.

You’re saying he’s strong defensively? … got it ; Homer alert . Nothing to see here

He actually is pretty strong defensively, at least when it comes to in-zone defense.

But his terrible skating makes it so he can't PK and will sometimes will get beat on the rush if he's one of the last guys back.

But yeah in general 5 on 5, he's not anything close to a liability. His best trait of all as a hockey player is arguably his IQ and positioning.

Easy 40? Come on. He did it once as an outlier. Sandwiched in between an 18 goal season and this season where he'll be incredibly lucky to get 25. He's slow, has a tendency to disappear for stretches, and can't stay healthy. Theres a reason Vancouver is reluctant to give him the contract he's looking for.
