Realistically, this is probably Boeser's last big contract, so term is going to matter a lot for earnings potential. If 5 years is the max they're offering him, I can't fault him for wanting to hit the open market.

Very fine walking away or trading if that’s what he’s after, ideally he’s the 3rd best forward on the first line or the 2nd best forward on the second line. His 40 goal season was an anomaly and he’s not gonna replicate that, but seems he wants to be paid for that 1 season and some team probably will. Already lacks foot speed in a fast nhl and it’s only gonna get worse. Love the guy but they just can’t be allocating cap like this to this player, he’s just slightly better than Debrusk and should be paid as such.
