Why is Marner so inconsistent? He's invisible today. He really appears nervous and unable to relax.

Invisible enough to be canada's best player today? hilarious. [mod]

So glad this tournament is over for Team Canada just so I don't ever have to see that coach again. What a meatball.

Incredibly disappointing. Virtanen really ****ed us here with his stupid penalties.

Virtanen's tournament isn't over. He was playing for Finland all along. He can still get gold.

straight up this team didn't feel right from the jump and i speculate that the way this team was picked is very controversial. Guys like Ho-Sang and Chychrun left off the team leaves me to wonder why. Either way we will only learn from this disappointment going forward.

This is the only thing I will say re: Virtanen. When he was released by Vancouver, a lot of posters stated that he had the potential to take a boneheaded penalty and lose the tournament for Canada. Those posters were correct.

I'm not that upset by the loss. You let in 6 goals, took a ton of penalties, they don't deserve anything. Go home and cry because you were undisciplined. Goaltending looked okay but eventually choked and pissed out goals like usual. That will never change. You can blame coaching but this team was young and took a ******** of penalties. Only themselves to blame.

Virtanen double penalty will be looked back as a funny moment. Stupid and funny. I like that Strome wants to win but he was out of control in emotion, no control at all, yelling at refs and players.

The only player that showed up in the first game that actually mattered for Canada

What an embarrassing tournament for this team

Knew it was going to be bad when Vancouver needed a top 6 guaranteed spot in order to let Virtanen come.

If you're not confident an NHLer can win a top 6 spot in this junior tournament on his own, then I don't know what to say.

That coach didn't seem to have the respect of his team. Players weren't held accountable, and making questionable decisions makes it an easy decision to replace the coach next year.

Virtanen's Canadian Citizenship should be revolked so he can go back to his true country,,, FINLAND

He literally showed up for one period in this tournament. Yes, it was the must important period, I will give him that.

Don't see a 5on5 threat at the NHL level. He will be gold on the PP though.

Just like RNH in 2013, Marner was only really effective on the PP. Didn't do much with the crazy amount of ice time otherwise.

Not true. He got quality body surfing time in while the open man scored against them

Actually one more thing with Virtanen. He shouldn't have even been on the 1st PP in the first place. In the Sweden game, they replaced Virtanen with Gauthier on a 5 on 3. Gauthier went straight to the front of the net and Marner scored 10 seconds in the powerplay on a shot from the point. That first powerplay had zero net presence the entire game. Gauthier should have been there as he was much more willing to get to the net compared to Virtanen or Strome.

On a positive note, this will be the last we ever hear of Dave Lowry and Joe Hicketts. And Virtanen out there with under 2 minutes to go, after taking two ridiculously stupid penalties, and getting out-muscled for the puck was perfectly fitting. Blackwood was atrocious.

Looking forward to seeing Konecny when he's back in Ottawa...the kid's a gamer.

Honest question here, and I hope this doesn't come across as me kicking you all while you're down... But do you think next year will be any different for Canada? I am amazed at the players that Finland, Sweden, USA, Russia have been cranking out and I look at the 2016 draft and at the top of it in no particular order are Matthews (USA), Puljujarvi (Finland), Laine (Finland), Tkachuck (USA), Nylander (Sweden), and then yes Gauthier and Chychrun. But still, I just wonder where the talent will come from for Canada next year? Unless of course all the aforementioned non-Canadians are in the NHL next year and not in the WJC which is a possibility I guess?
