Ive been thinking about this a lot lately myself. he will be pushing for a max term/retirement contract and he'll probably get one from some GM. I really wonder how Deaner's 5 year plan is going to unfold. what other Kings style wingers are UFA this year?

Who do you add to this current group? Have you seen the UFA list? Slim pickings.
Exactly. Kings don't have 6 top 6 forwards right now. Letting a guy that's pulling his weight walk doesn't help the team get better.

Lucic isn't worth 6 million let alone a raise. It was a stupid trade when the need was a RHD that can move the puck. I know they don't grow on trees but why waste any assets when you have such a pressing need elsewhere?
Destroying the offense to fix the defense doesn't help.
Edit: I'd also like to add the Kings would be fighting with AZ/Van for the last playoff spot right now if they didn't have Lucic for the year. A whole year of Brown/Lewis both in the top 6. Solid.

The problem is that complimentary winger replacement is already on the team. Brown/Lewis...
We've already seen how that works... it was the 29th ranked offense through the trade deadline.

Filling the D spot would be nice, but if it comes at the cost of making the offense worse from where it is today that doesn't help the team.

What top 4 defenseman could the Kings have gotten for the Lucic package? I'd wager to say not many, we got a steal with him all things considered
Dougie was probably available for that package. He's really helped the Flames this year.
Only important thing this Summer is moving Brown with as little retained as possible. If that can be done there's enough cap space to fix problems. If not, then the Kings need someone like Ebert/Kempe coming out of the blue and landing in the top 4/top 6.

Forgot about that guy. DL might have to think out of the box in that regard, IE looking overseas to find a gem.
If we can't move Brown, at least strip him of captaincy and give it to someone more deserving.

Yeah, but its ****ing embarrassing when your captain plays the way Brown has this year. It did a world of good giving the C to Pavelski in SJ, it might take some pressure off of Brown and help him play better.
Wish they'd call up Kempe to get a glimpse of his game, if only for a short period. I wonder how serious his injury is?
