Great news, I really hope he gets a call this year and can stick on the roster. Also glad he wasn't traded at the deadline, I'm sure almost every team asked about him.

It was a very informative interview. I listened to it for probably 20 minutes on the way to an appointment.

Only way the Kings would trade him is if it was for an established 25-30 goal scorer and even then, probably not. His production and ELC are going to be very crucial in the next few years. Gotta crunch every penny.

Listening to it right now, thanks.

Forbort-Gravel could be a nice inexpensive shut down pairing down the road, which we're going to need with Kopi's raise, and if we sign Lucic (or a top 4 D instead).

Great stuff RP, thanks for posting that. Hopefully Kempe, Mersch, and Forbort are all in the opening night lineup next season with Gravel being the first call up.

Thanks for sharing. Good news but, and I know Kempe is injured right now, but why is it that Mersch, Dowd and Backman are the ones doing all the scoring? Even before the injury he wasn't exactly lighting it up.

I'll go out on a limb and say Kempe was probably playing hurt for awhile before they decided to shut him down until he's healthy.

It is pretty crazy to think about the bad fortunes of this team.

What would you have thought in 2012 if someone told you by 2015 Voynov would be out of the league, Brown would be a 4th liner and Richards would riding buses in the AHL.

* Two Stanley Cups
* Not signing Kovalchuk to a 17-year, $102 million deal then him bolting back to Russia
* Not signing Brad Richards to a nine-year, $60 million then being forced to buy him out

You win some, you loose some.

It's easy to be perfect when you're a HFBoards armchair GM with hindsight

and i'm pretty sure that we're the only team in NHL history that had a player walk to FA for nothing despite winning the Conn Smythe trophy the previous year

that, in itself, is crazy

that lack of foresight cost us a 1st round pick at last year's trade deadline have we decided to deal Williams, let alone the 1st we gave up for Sekera

there have been more than a few costly miscalculations by our management the past two seasons

can't really fault DL for missing out on the Richards contract buyout, but almost everything else since then has been desperate

I doubt Williams would've gotten a first. Hell, we were in the playoff chase until the final week of the season, do you really think moving a clutch player like him would've changed things? It would've been a total dick move on DL's part , especially what he did the year before. The Sekera move had to be done to try and fill Voynov spot , nobody could've predicted he'd get hurt falling over another player a few weeks later.

Can't believe we're still complaining about last season. The Kings went on an 8 game win streak and looked pretty good around the time DL decided to make the Sekera deal. Remember the reactions on the trade board? They were handing the Kings the cup. Ducks fans were pissed off Murray didn't trade for him.

Not all deadline acquisitions will will result in a parade in June. I don't blame Lombardi for trying.

Meh, some people are comfortable throwing away prime Carter, Kopitar, Doughty, Muzzin, and Quick years.

This roster blew it, not Dean. It was a massive slap in the face after he gave them a vote of confidence by acquiring the best player available, and in doing so, it radically changed the way Dean approaches acquiring players. Dean learned from that, and in combination with the Richards ordeal, I'm excited to see what he does in the future. I'd be shocked if #23 is on this roster next season.

I don't know why someone would argue about trading Williams during a playoff run just because he walked after the year. This isn't NHL 15. what kind of message are you sending to the locker room if you're trading a guy that's a vital part of that group during a run?

Id be shocked if we get away trading #23. Long and pricy contract, with low production and efficiency. Who would take on that contract?

Dean had the framework in place for two trades at the draft for Mike Richards.

Push comes to shove, buy him out. By the fourth year, when the ugliness sets in, the CAD will most likely have rebounded. That'll offset the hit. Richards hit next season is considerably lower also. Kings would be on the hook for roughly $2,000,000 combined. The savings on Brown would be roughly $5,400,000.

To be a fly on the wall listening to the framework of the Richards trades. I hope one day we know how close the trades were and for what.

I could see a buyout happening of brown more likely. Unless dean goes 50% and brown is serviceable at a 2.9 a year I suppose? Maybe the oilers could use his leadership? God knows that team doesn't try at all worth a damn these decades.

I know at least one poster has been pointing out a Forbort-Gravel pairing would be/has been nasty. Awesome to hear they'll both get real cracks.

Really cool to hear about Mersch from roster players, too, that's fantastic.

this same thing was said about Weal and look what happened there. I ll believe it when i see it. I see Yandle being a target somehow. Which would push one out of the lineup.

I hope not, he's going to want top dollar. His 14/15 yotes numbers aren't exactly inspiring either.

except Weal was lacking that one thing that all three mentioned players have.....size. You need size to be effective with this team. The shortest skater is 6'0. Enroth is the only one that's below that.

Scuderi :laugh:/Doughty
Muzzin/Martinez
McNabb/Schenn
Gravel/McBain
Forbort

Forbort will have to beat out Gravel/McBain for a spot. Maybe they give the 7D spot to him because he can't be sent down next year.

Unlikely that both Schenn/Greene are gone. Could be a possibility with the cap.

It's going to be a tough road for Forbort next year. Lots of competition.

schenn has to know he's lucky to not have been waived by philly and buried in the minors. i bet he signs a greene style deal to have stability for his family.

it all comes down to $$ for schenn.. I think just do to his age and position he will be offered more by other teams than what LA can give.

I want him to stay but it will not break my heart.
