Jim Rutherford is a terrible GM, maybe Dean can convince him that the player the Penguins need is Dustin Brown.
Yeah, the one thing that makes me feel pretty good about the upcoming years is how terrible some other GMs are.
I think they are a bit wary of DL now, since most of his deals have worked out.
this year's UFA Ds
Grossman
Liles
Goligoski
Demers
Russell
Quincey
Campbell
Yandle
Lovejoy
Polak
Gunnarsson
Hamhuis
Schlemko
if we don't sign Lucic we'll have roughly 6m available to spend
would you rather resign Lucic? or spend it on a Goligoski/Yandle type?
i think LA is really abusing Doughty and he needs help asap before he burns himself out
that D has to be fixed somehow and it was never for the sake of our D, but to lighten the burden on Doughty
It is pretty crazy to think about the bad fortunes of this team.
What would you have thought in 2012 if someone told you by 2015 Voynov would be out of the league, Brown would be a 4th liner and Richards would riding buses in the AHL.

and i'm pretty sure that we're the only team in NHL history that had a player walk to FA for nothing despite winning the Conn Smythe trophy the previous year
that, in itself, is crazy
that lack of foresight cost us a 1st round pick at last year's trade deadline have we decided to deal Williams, let alone the 1st we gave up for Sekera
there have been more than a few costly miscalculations by our management the past two seasons
can't really fault DL for missing out on the Richards contract buyout, but almost everything else since then has been desperate

Forbort - Sounds like he'll be a roster player next season. Management is very high on him and are very happy with his progression. They say he's currently an NHL-ready player, but there is no room on the Kings so they want him playing in Ontario.
Mersch - Another NHL-ready player that is the prototypical King. Great size, underrated intelligent, and off-the-charts compete level. Sounds like he'll make the opening night roster with Gravel. Another utility player; can play in the top 9. Kopitar and Carter have both remarked to management how much they like playing with him.
Gravel - Extremely hungry player. All he wants is to be on the Kings. Nothing else matters to him.
Zykov - Never grew into what the Kings expected. On some nights he's a first line player and the next night he's a fourth line player. Never developed the consistency they wanted.
that's really good news regarding Forbort & Gravel, they'll most likely replace Greene & McBain
