Some of what you say is true but to add Phily d/men is a stretch we would surely fall out of the top 10 if we had to use the flyers clown d/men.
as far as replacing any of the vets you named no need to replace them as those type of defensemen are quickly fading in the NHL as everyone wants quicker guys that move the puck quickly.

McBain won't get a huge raise. Maybe 300,000-400,000. Enough savings for a bottom line forward or a cheap #7D/rookie Dman.

Yea kid is a solid offensive defenseman but he looks clueless when he has to actually play defense. Yea I know he is young and will improve in that zone.

Streit for two more years at 5.25. Yea right I would not take him for free. Add to that he is bad defensively you can have him but I will hope to never see him as a King.

Ron Hainsey, anyone? Not real expensive, got some skill. Playing first pair for Canes, but probably good on third pairing on Kings.

I've seen nearly every game of both of their careers and Hamonic is clearly the superior player. The only thing Hot Muzz does beter than The Hammer is shooting the puck. This is no knock on Jake Muzzin, I think he's a great hockey player but you should really watch some Islanders games and see for yourself.
Since I watch every Kings game (and have been doing so for nearly a decade) I'm well aware of the state of the current Kings defense and what our needs are. I was replying to another Kings fan who was trying to swap our garbage for the Islanders' stud defenceman.

Hamonic is more than just a solid top four guy. He's the Islanders #1 defenseman and he has proven himself to be capable of shutting down some of the best players in the world during the playoffs. His performances against Evgeni Malkin and Alexander Ovechkin in the playoffs speak for themselves.
Except every single stat backs up Jake's superiority. Just look it up. There's are some players that can play well against Ovie and Sid, doesn't mean they are the best players. Muzzin would be the number one defenseman on the Isles for sure. Also, I never said Hamonic isn't a good hockey player, Muzzin is just better; I've seen both play, obviously watching Jake more. I hate discussing trade proposals because it's literally pointless, but Hamonic is probably worth somewhere close to Martinez, and again, we don't need to trade do anything right now, because we are at the top of the league and playing well without arguably our best center this year.

no way tampa does this....I would love it though.
With the log jam of LW we would have to move someone out to make room fro Drouin. However how Sutter plays rookies do you really think he would like playing in LA any better than Tampa? Drouin needs to go to a basement dwelling team to get the ice time he feels he deserves.

wouldn't be the worse pick up. My concern would be next year if Greene is healthy having both him and Hainsey on the books at over $2M each.
Just feels like there maybe a better use of that cap space.

Since his agent came out and basically outed Drouin as a Prima Donna, Drouin's trade value has fallen. Great agent, eh? Regardless, Drouin now has to prove that he's NOT a spoiled @ss and accept his development time in the minors as both necessary and essential for his progressing to the NHL. That said, we'd immediately send him to our AHL team and see what he can do with 40-45 games in our developmental system. Let him win something with Ontario. Then let him earn his way onto the 2016-2017 Kings team.
Here's my FINAL offer....
Weal, Prokhorkin, Bartosak, Spencer Watson, Alex Lintuniemi, and our 2nd round pick in 2017...... If the price is higher than that, he's probably not worth it, unless it's an older prospect who has a limited window of "making it" to the NHL (Kitsyn & Dowd)....
that's alot of quantity for quality. Tampa will do better than that offer.
I think if Anaheim wants him they could dangled a D-man for him, same with the flyers.
Both need LW help that we do not.
