Just saw espn reported Kings and Lucic exchanged contract figures a little while ago. No word on what those figures are.

So at least they are at that stage.

I posted this in the Bruins PGT but I feel like it should be here, too. This is from Rosen's practice notes (3-20):

On Anze Kopitar’s play over the last month:
Hey, him and Jonathan set the template for our team in terms of leadership and what’s going on. It’s those two guys who carry the weight, and he’s on pace for his normal regular season. His numbers, he’s going to be, what, around 25 and 50 in terms of goals and assists, and that’s what his career has been. That’s spectacular for most players. For him, that’s normal. … You know what? Our team, the top players are also the captains, so it goes hand-in-hand. It’s a lot of responsibility for Kopi, but that’s good responsibility and it’s good pressure.I trust him on and off the ice, so you expect him to be a top guy in both those areas. He’s a top player on the ice and he’s our captain.

Sutter's coming out with it, now. Kopi is the captain. Wonder if he gets the C next year?

Well thats my bad on the timing issue. My reading comprehension error in criticizing your reading comprehension is kinda funny. And I see the other thread's already made the point I was getting at.

"There are a lot of captains on this team. Kopitar is a captain"

...

"Sutter said Kopitar is the captain."

I didn't take it as Sutter being as offhand as you make it, his statement felt more emphatic abut Kopi's captaincy. That's why I pointed it out.

Also, you know, to stir discussion.

You guys wanna see something depressing?

That's since the Scuderi trade

cf%. i guess that's one of the arguments for the lineup where those two play together, dd basically acting as an babysitter, scuderi seems able enough to pass to dd, just drew's offensive production should go down with this combo.

meh, i take it back, it's much more complicated:

this is lak's wowy: http://hockeyviz.com/img/team/wowy/wowyShots-1516-L.A.png

and this is scuder's wowy: http://hockeyviz.com/img/player/wowy/1516/L.A/wowy-1516-L.A-scudero78-shots.png

so, scuderi is killing doughty, but the question is: what else to do?

Then again, the Kings are 8-2-1 since that trade, with the only 2 regulation losses to Anaheim when they were red hot.

Also since the trade:

Goals/game = 3.18

Goals against/game= 1.91

Both are substantial improvements over their averages, and they certainly haven't been playing crappy teams lately.

Whatever the team has lost from Doughty has been gained by others slotting in more natural roles, and then some. Martinez/Muzzin didn't look so well for a good stretch but have picked it up since being reunited. McNabb/Schenn look noticeably better together than with other partners they have played with.

And even though Doughty's numbers have dropped, he still looks pretty dominant out there.

great, that's a lot of positives.

imo the real value of scuderi will start to show in the playoffs, and i'm optimistic about it. so far he was tested only with doughty and martinez, so there's some room for experiments until then.

as i said, it's complicated. so far he's trying to play a strict playbook game (aka pass it to dd), maybe he just need some extra time to adapt or relax. and as you said, he brought a lot of indirect positives into the game, and those are hard to measure with his personal stats alone.

I don't see the same game as some of you. McNabb and Schenn is NOT good. Scuderi is holding on, but does bring Doughty down. Our D core is slower now than when McBain, Ehrhoff, and Forbort/Gravel played, and it showed in a long stretch in the second period last night. The 3rd only looked better because Nashville backed off.

Scuderi is OK for now (playing way better than I thought he would), I think Sutter is testing him to see how many minutes he can play for the playoffs. McBad and Schenn should not be together in key situations. I'd rather see Gravel than McNabb right now, but that's not going to happen. Both guys need to be paired with a faster, mobile Dman like Martinez or Muzzin.
