I thought I read somewhere that Schenn wasn't in the Flyers' plans for the future. I may be wrong.

Schenn was not in Hexy's plans, he's been on the trade block for 3 yrs. No takers. Hexy said the day of the trade that Lombardi had been interested in Schenn for a long time it was just a matter of working a trade out and taking Vinnie was a part of that. Flyers wanted CAP Space. Also, Vinnie has an NMC and vetoed 2 prior trades (one to Ottawa the summer after his first Flyers season) he agreed to the LA trade but with his word he'd retire end of year, so Hexy could agree to DL's request to eat half of the contract.

Not really anything new but... Lucic update

The Kings and Milan Lucic's camp have been in contract talks for more than a month but have not yet agreed to an extension. I can't imagine that discussion would continue into the playoffs, so they have about a week to get this done or further deliberation will be shelved until after the playoffs. That still leaves plenty of time until July 1, when Lucic becomes an unrestricted free agent, but it's worth pointing out that despite proposals and counterproposals between both sides, it appears there's still a sizeable gap. That's not surprising, perhaps, given that the cap-challenged Kings must be concerned with every dime spent at this point. Lucic loves it in L.A. -- and the Kings' organization loves the fit with him in the lineup -- so there is hope they can get something done during the next week or so or after the season.

We are always complaining about the bottom six, but, "hey now," Andreoff now has 7 goals.

He is only 1 shy of Trevor Lewis and has more goals than Clifford, Shore, and Nolan.

And everyone you listed could be gone and get pretty much the same results

Hard to blame DL for being gun shy about signing Lucic to a big extension. This is the third straight year the Kings have arguably the worst contract in the NHL on their roster, and both the players who accounted for those contracts also played a physical style and had a lot of miles on their tires, and both players games begin to collapse at about the same age that Lucic will be next season.

Lucic is 6'3 230 and probably better equipped to deal with the punishment, but you know Dean has to consider what became of Richards and Brown when he decides whether to pay Looch.

Rebuild starts when Kopitar/Carter start heading down. Lucic only has to be productive for 3-5 years. If Brown could be productive for the next 3 years the contract would be just fine.
