Who's banged up?

muzzin got skipped over on quite a few shifts that I noticed yesterday and when he returned is when he was skittish and making errors. Only other. Scuderi missed a couple too but I figured that's because we were coming from behind.

Only reason this is significant is because we still have McBain too, do we not? Seems like a little overboard in case of insurance for the roadtrip.

Rosen said all the d-men traveled to Vancouver but there were a few guys who were banged up. Wouldn't mind resting Scuderi for one or both games because he could probably use it and it's not like the Kings will be missing much anyways.

May want to get a final look at Gravel before the playoffs start to see if him or McBain get the call in case of injury. McBain has been around for a while. Sutter knows what he brings. Last few games don't matter all that much right now.

Scuderi got shaken up in the 3rd but came back.
I'm really hoping Gravel can get in there somewhere on the left side and solidify the spot.
would really like the experiment of seeing up there w/ Drew... Hell McNabb looks better
w/ sheltered 3rd pair minutes as Jim points out a lot. Scud came in looking great but his
play is slow and tailing off FAST.
throw gravel in the fire and let's see what we got. I kinda think it'll work.

I agree. I think McNabb is a good third-pairing defenseman. It's too bad we don't have a right-handed second-pairing defenseman, otherwise we'd have a hell of a defense. Imagine if we still had Voynov.

Muzzin - Doughty
Martinez - Voynov
McNabb - Schenn

That's a Stanley Cup caliber defense.

****in' Voynov. Any RHDs available this offseason?

You know... If the Kings were able to move Brown and Gaboriks contracts, they'd have enough to sign Stamkos.

Yep, completely screwed up Dean Lombardi's plan. That defense you have above for the next 4 years at roughly $23-25 million. Not going to find too many defenses better and for cheaper.

As for RHD's available, pickings are extremely slim. None I would go for anyways. Maybe they can work something out with St. Louis, Winnipeg, or Buffalo for one of their right handed defensemen. Buffalo has 4 righties I think. I actually asked Jon Rosen a question about a possible trade for a right handed d-man and he said the Kings won't make a trade for one if the expected expansion draft rules are going to apply. Kings would have too many defensemen they would need to protect.

Adding another solid D on top of Doughty/Muzzin/Martinez isn't going to happen. Swapping Muzzin or Martinez for a RHD might happen.

With the expansion coming up lots of teams are going to cut down to 3D to protect. The choice, going into the playoffs will be to move players or compete and risk losing guys for nothing. It would be a great year for the Kings to load up on depth defenders. Guys like Schenn that are decent, probably won't get picked off in an expansion or won't be the end of the world if they do. The Kings system is built to utilize these types of D. It's going to be a good opportunity.

Agree. I'd take on a couple of DMen - just so I can lose one and gain some depth with the other pickups. Although, I'd prefer if the LV Black Knights draft Brown.

On a side note, does anyone know if the no trade list of teams that players have in contracts show the teams they can't be traded to or ones that they're ok to be sent to? (Or does the player get to provide a list of teams later that they'd block?). Big difference as unless it is specifically called out that no new expansion teams, I doubt that Vegas would be included in anyone's contracts.

Has this name been decided upon? It's funny. Years ago, I was thinking "Vegas Knights" all the way. It'd be awesome if whoever owned that franchise was thinking the same thing.

Sadly, it'll probably be something stupid like the "Vegas Stakes" or the "Vegas Bandits" or the "Vegas Gold Nuggets" ....... :shakehead

The Spearmint Rhinos??

Two names set the Kings back defensively.

Voynov and Forbort. If Voynov didn't beat up his wife and get 86'ed from the league, or Forbort developed into what was expected the Kings are fine with a top 4 of Doughty/Muzzin/Martinez/Voynov(Forbort).

You could also add McNabb onto that as well, Kings have had very poor luck on defenseman the past few years.

Rumour has been balck nights since day 1 as far as what I have heard.

I think it would be cool if they find a Mafia type name to got with. Las Vegas Aces sound nice, but would fall into your stupid category.

Top two names for me.
Voynov (not sure how anyone could argue that), and Hickey.

LA should have Alzner.

There's already the Devils, but the Las Vegas Pokers (little devil guy with pitchfork) and stealing the AZ Sun Devils Mascot would be a great way to get the AZ/NV rivalry going.

it's really a testament to Sutter's system (and of course the guys who have bought into it) how dominant this defense is year in and year out despite the only real constant over the last several seasons being Doughty.

Took Muzzin and AMart a bit to really settle into their own, and most other guys have been vets in decline, or young D that needed a lot of development. Voynov was probably the most solid guy behind Doughty, I still maintain he'd have been a high-end #2 by this point, not unlike what Muzzin is now.

I think Voynov was a high end #2 and would be a great 1/2 punch with drew had he not been an absolute idiot.

Colton Teubert. We would've known what it was like to have the best defenseman in the NHL if the Kings drafted Karlsson instead.

Teubert was at least projected to be selected around where LA took him...Hickey was off the board and Alzner was the obvious pick at the time.

When LA pick Tuebert I was not pissed at the time, when LA took Hickey I was pissed at the time. No hindsight was needed, it was **** at the time and still is.

Foley is a West Point graduate and he's chairman of Black Knight Financial. While it formally hasn't selected, I'd be shocked if he doesn't choose that name.
