So since Nill is looking for two defenders out of the teams that have been eliminated...which defenders would we want?

We have...

Myers
Pardy
Chairot

To choose from.

Did I miss anyone that has been eliminated so far?

I think people underestimate the statistical anomalies that take place in small sample sizes that are these tournaments. How many games has Canada lost in it's last 3 tournies? 3? Or is it 4? It's not many games.

That's called back luck. That's what single game elimination tournaments are, a lot of luck.
Unless this was sarcasm, you're way out of your element. It's 6 games. You've lost 6 games. :)

And there's been a lot of close affairs too. A bunch of 1-goal games or overtime wins (including against teams such as Slovenia or Norway).

I bet you haven't even watched the World Champs.

Hamhuis? I heard he could have surgery but is playing through it so we'll see. Alzner, Green, de Haan, Hickey, Wiercioch, Methot, Beaulieu, Brendan Smith, Spurgeon, Scandella, Coburn. This is probably all we have since few of these guys will be available and their teams will be out soon. 2 LHD would be preferred. I'm hoping for Beaulieu and Scandella because of their mobility and really good two-way play.

Any chance on Crosby playing in WC, if the Pens lose today?

Crosby and Giroux are oil and water.

Plus I think Crosbys wrist isn't 100%. I don't think he's going. Plus it's not worth it for HC to pay out for his insurance.

Yeah, even if Crosby was 100% healthy he still wouldn't go. No big deal though.

Any chance Horvat get's a phone call?

I doubt there are any more forwards named unless someone comes up with an injury between now and the first few games of the tourney. D is what's needed, 3 experienced left-handed D would be ideal, but I'd settle for 2.

:crossfing:crossfing Hope Dutch is OK

the poster meant that Duchene left Canada and is travelling, on route to Vienna where he'll meet up with the rest of the team. Team Canada will practice for a few days there, play a turn up game v Austria and then move on to Prague.

Hockey Canada doesn't hold a training camp in Canada. Players either individually or in small groups make their way to whatever European city Hockey Canada decides on to hold a "mini-camp" a few days before the tournament is set to begin, practice for a few days, play an exhibition game or two and then move on to wherever the tournament is being played. Lousy preparation if you ask me, but that's how Hockey Canada approaches this tourney.

Yes 6 games. None of the by more than one goal and 4 of them in OT/SO. In group stage, Canada hasn't lost a single game in regulation time since 2011. All the three OT/SO losses in group stage (in the last 4 years) took place at the start of the tournament when our team is just shaping up.

No, you're out of your element.

In the past 3 tournaments Canada during the round robin has had a record of 16 wins, 2 overtime wins, and 3 regulation losses, with a goal differential of +50. That's an amazing record.

In single game elimination anything can happen. Worse teams win all the time.

As far as M-A Fleury:

"They already have two goalies... I just looked it up online."

Sidney Crosby confirms that he will play for Team Canada in the World Championships.

Is this the greatest Team Canada ever to play at this tournament?

It's going to be so entertaining to watch this team, they're probably going to dominate everyone senseless.

What bank did Team Canada rob in order to get the money to cover Crosby's insurance costs? They really have to add another 2 big defenders like Myers/Hamhuis and one big time goalie in order to make this run worth it.
