Patrice Bergeron told he is not invited as TC wanted to get "younger"

But Spezza is picked?

Would love Bergy there, but also would like him to get a rest too...

I have mixed opinions on this. If Bergeron really wanted to go, then I would want him. He could easily be the captain. All the quote says though is that he wasn't expecting to be asked. I don't mind going with Couturier in the defensive centre spot as he might take on a Bergeron-like role for Canada someday. If the team was loaded with useless players and didn't bother inviting Bergeron, then it would be a real issue.

I think Calgary will win the series without a problem now. I would wait for either Tavares or Stamkos. Or maybe one of Little/Ladd/Scheifele. Stone or Turris also wouldn't be a bad option. A lot of possibilities here. Getting Tavares or Stamkos would be huge, but even players like Ladd or Turris could be very useful.

On defence, I think getting Boychuk or Myers would be awesome. Myers wasn't exactly great last year, and he might be better suited for NHL ice, but from what I've watched from the Anaheim-Winnipeg series, he's played very, very good hockey. Doesn't seem to make mistakes, and is playing great defensively imo.
Jets were elimated so one of Little/Ladd/Scheifele could be a late invite

Would be nice to see a line of Hall-McDavid-Eberle if Erie gets eliminated early.

^^
Duchene - Giroux - MacKinnon
O'Reilly - Spezza - Seguin
Hall - McDavid - Eberle
B.Schenn - Couturier - Toffoli
Eakin/Ennis

:yo:

seriously, this is already maybe the best offence since 2008. I like that 4th line.

With the Islanders on the brink, and if we were to add another forward, I'd rather it be J.T. But I admit, I can't get enough of watching McWunderkind play.

Any chance on Crosby playing in WC, if the Pens lose today?

Maybe If...He felt like it...AND......

...scientists discovered a giant asteroid was headed our way & that life, as we know it, would come to an end in the next 6 months or so...

Hockey Canada MIGHT be more inclined to splurge on Crosby’s insurance

So, you're saying there’s a chance?

many people will tell you there is close to zero chance, but I remember that Crosby once said he wouldn't mind to attend the WHC again some day in the future. And I'd guess Hockey Canada will ask the best player in the world even just for the record. But even to me, it would be a big, BIG surprise. And maybe they already consider rather Tavares or someone else.

Is there any chance the Colorado kids might form a line? O'Reilly/Duchene/Mackinnon is something not even the Avalanche have tried before, but I'm intrigued.

They should not have picked Schenn. That roster spot should have been left open to add a better player than Schenn after the first round.

I Agree and i don't think Rielly will end up going to worlds nothing confirmed or not yet but i know cause of a instagram photo he went to vancouver and i would think if he was going to worlds he likely would of stayed in toronto.

Doesn't really mean too much. If he's still there on Monday, then ya, I'd say he's a no go. There hasn't been, as far as I can gather, any formal 'gathering' of players or coaches, no practices of any kind. Just like last year. I imagine that most of the team will meet for the first time on Monday evening at YYZ for an overnight to wherever they'll set up shop for a few days of practice before their spring European vacation begins next Friday, May 1. Hey, Prague is beautiful in the spring. It's my favorite European springtime getaway as well.

TC is running a mini camp in Vienna. Taylor Hall left today.

I really hope Marc-André Fleury is named into the team, he was absolutely outstanding against the Rangers.

well, no doubt the game against Latvia will be tough.

But on the other hand , the chemistry at the olympics is quite similar, you also don't get time to prepare or even play pre-tournament games. I believe Canada will get better as the tournament goes on.

Yeah the lack of preparation is the main reason why team Canada is not successful in this tournament. I don't understand why they can't do atleast some mini camp in North America before leaving for tournament. Why they can't play in NA for example 2 games against USA before leaving for WHC? Is it really that hard to manage it? Do atleast something to find chemistry among players and prepare team for tournament. This is just a bit weird to me. They had enough time to do something like that.

I think people underestimate the statistical anomalies that take place in small sample sizes that are these tournaments. How many games has Canada lost in it's last 3 tournies? 3? Or is it 4? It's not many games.

That's called back luck. That's what single game elimination tournaments are, a lot of luck.
