He was the one guy most people assumed would blow off the tournament. Good on him.

Although it's going to be interesting to see if Giroux and Crosby can work together.
 
Damn, huge add up front.

If we can add Subban or Methot, and Scandella or Pietro we'll be flying.

It should be hard for these guys to turn it down aside from injury, contract, or having a kid if Sidney Crosby is going.
 
It doesn't mean we'll win, of course, but this team will be the best on paper by a country mile.

Looks like Canada is really going for the hat trick this time (Olympics, WJC and WHC).

I'm actually shocked that Hockey Canada would bust open the piggy banks to pay for his insurance. Shocked.

don't we still need a goalie and a few good d-men? Even with a potent offense, D and goaltending wins championships.

Very nice addition for Canada and the WC. I feel that this might be the year Canada might actually medal.
 
The Crosby vs. Giroux thing is way overblown IMO. I doubt there's any bad blood between them. Giroux is apparently a great guy, among the nicest in the league off the ice.

Never believed this would happen, but great news for sure. Hope this helps to create more interest in the tournament in North America.

Giroux is MAYBE in the top five nicest players, but Crosby is the nicest player in the world. Giroux will never be as nice as Crosby.

This is what I'm hoping for. With Winnipeg and Vancouver out there are some really good defensemen we can add from both teams. Duchene and MacKinnon train with Crosby in the summer so it's possible that they will know how to play with each other.

I'm serious though. I've only ever heard good things about Giroux (from posters on this board to bartenders I know to NHL players like Seguin, who said that he's a ****** on the ice but one of the nicest guys off the ice).

On that note, one player I've been confused about with respect to off-ice personality is Taylor Hall. From every interview I've heard of him, he sounds really measured, intelligent, respectful, etc. but there are tons of rumours about him being a total ****** off the ice. I don't see how a guy who seems so personable with the media could have attitude problems in public.
