Sidney Crosby played in '06 worlds in Latvia. Led all scorers with 16 points, was named tourney's top forward. He was 18.

Hopefully we can add some solid defensman and I'm going to cheer for Islanders now so we can add Holtby. I haven't really been following the roster but Doughty turn down the invitation?

Ya, I won't be making any golden predictions until I see our final additions. Hopefully we'll luck out and land another few A-listers. Not sure if Doughty was asked or not. but in the dressing room after the kings were eliminated, he didn't respond positively to the question of the WHC.

Great addition obviously but a little confused on the messaging from TC when they said to Bergeron TC wanted to get younger but have Spezza and now Sid...Obviously you want Sid to come, but it's a no brainer to take Bergy over Spezza...little difference between salaries between Bergeron and Spezza too....

I think Crosby wants to be a part of the triple gold club. And if that's the case, then good for him! Just because a player is older and has had success there's no reason he shouldn't represent his team at the WC.

Would have been the starter more like it. Canada's hopes now rest on Martin Jones breaking out.

if fleury was asked and said no he had a legit reason to decline the invite his wife Veronique is expecting there 2nd child. i know she is expecting because there is photos on a nhl wag blog that has recent photos of her on it.

True i truly think players should always accept invites to play for there countries unless they have a legit reason to decline such as they are injured or if there wife or girlfriend is pregnant and due near the time of the event.

When I first read about Crosby accepting to play for Canada the Triple Gold Club first came to my mind. If that's a factor for him or not I say who cares.

my dream scenario is almost complete, now just add Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, and Hamhuis and I'm in heaven. Haha.

I wish Rielly was going but if he has a minor injury than it is better for him to rest for a while and than start doing off season training and be healthy for leafs training camp. Morgan Rielly will get invited to play for team canada again.

Crosby-Giroux-Spezza-Couturier? Talk about center depth!

Can TC only take two goalies? Cuz MAF was asked about it and said they already had two goalies. Sorry I'm a bit confused D:

Hamhuis, Tanev should get invites.
If Horvat does that would be great for his development but we already have tons of centre depth.

I can't believe it. Would have bet the house that he wouldn't play.

I was iffy at first but knew there was a chance he'd go. Mainly cuz he's finally healthy and he can play with his training buddies Nate and Duchene. I also think he and Giroux had a pleasant experience with each other during that day this past summer that they filmed the Gatorade Sledge Hockey thing. The hatred between the 2 has softened imo. Both want to play on the World Cup team too, i imagine, so it's good if they can come together and hopefully win this tournament.
