I hope Turris goes. Guy is fairly underrated.

Already 14 forwards named to the team. So unless a forward or 2 comes up with an injury, there won't be any more forwards named.

D-men are required, preferably left-handed. Methot perhaps.

Our defense is absolutely garbage by our standards.

Pietrangelo and Bouwmeester better be on this team.

Would also rather have Fleury than Smith, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Team Canada will play their pre-tournament game on Wednesday against Austria. Crosby might be in the lineup. The game is already sold out.

1st line: Matt Duchene - Sidney Crosby - Nathan MacKinnon
2nd line: Taylor Hall - Claude Giroux - Tyler Seguin
3rd line: Tyler Toffoli - Jason Spezza - Jordan Eberle
4th line: Ryan O'Reilly - Sean Couturier - Brayden Schenn
Cody Eakin/Tyler Ennis

:yo: that third line :amazed:

I don't see anything particularly dazzling about that 3rd line. Could end up having a negative +- at the end of each game. scoring some goals, but committing their fair share of defensive miscues. I'm a big Toffoli fan though and would prefer to see him play on the right side on another line.

I really hope the presence of Cole Harbour compatriot motivates Sid to play some inspired hockey, really haven't seen it for a few years.

I was at the tournament in Riga in 06 and watching 18 year old Sid was special. It was something to see! although the tournament had a disappointing end to it. Took a look at Sid's highlight package and I really love the Team Canada jerseys from that time 2006-08.

That's a very impressive team on paper, one of the best seen in this tournament and clearly the number one favorite this year.

A very good chance for Crosby to join the Triple Gold Club.

Methot was playing through a hip injury, so I doubt it.

I just checked the Hockey Canada webpage and they are saying Sidney Crosby will be playing at the worlds this year. Wow I never saw that one coming. Any time the Penguins got eliminated Crosby would never come to the worlds but he will be this year. Maybe this is the year Canadas gold medal drought ends at the WHC?

damn. that sucks.

We'll be in tough unless we can land a couple of experienced D-men, 3 left handers preferably. I don't give a poop what the offense looks like, we are still woefully short on D and in goal.

The third line is the one catching your eye?

I would switch Toffoli and O'Reilly. Makes the 3rd line much better defensively, and adds more speed to the 4th line.

:) I mean it's impressive to have such a skilled 3rd line. Obviously Crosby line and then giroux-seguin will be AMAZING to watch. Imagine Duchene-Crosby-MacKinnon. Three of the fastest skaters on this planet together. And they should have pretty good chemistry, maybe the best Crosby has ever had with anybody.

Best TC since the 2005 edition. But even that team couldn't win the gold.

I personally dont think Methot goes, considering the amount of energy the payers had to spend just to make the playoffs it wouldn't surprise me if he were exhausted. that being said I think a combination of Alzner, Pietrangelo and Bouwmeester would take the team to the next level.

that is true with 2005, but here in 2015 is a big difference: Other teams don't have such talented squad as in 2005. That was a lockout year.

It's gonna be extremely interesting to see Giroux and Crosby play together, probably on the same PP too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Crosby play on the right side on the PP? Crosby on the right and Giroux on the left would be insane.

Yea, it'll be fun to watch play out.
And yes Sid's prefered spot is the right wall to down low/goal mouth.
If they manage to win here, i think it'll go along way to having Crosby/G both on the World Cup team in 2016.

Yup, Crosby on the right, Giroux on the left. Potentially a very deadly unit. In Pittsburgh the PP has suffered for years with no option on the left side. Should be interesting to see how Crosby can utilize a player like that on that side of the ice.

I have tickets for the Canada - Latvia game, guess I'm gonna see a lot of goals.

Me too!

Got the ticket before roster announcements so I thought I would be seeing a bunch of Oilers and Canada b team.
Look forward to seeing the Crosby-duchene-Mack and the giroux-seguin lines.

Not crazy about the goalies and the blue line is a little questionable but I'm actually fairly impressed with the lineup

Great addition obviously but a little confused on the messaging from TC when they said to Bergeron TC wanted to get younger but have Spezza and now Sid...Obviously you want Sid to come, but it's a no brainer to take Bergy over Spezza...little difference between salaries between Bergeron and Spezza too....

It's ******** that Spezza was picked over Bergeron. Sid is 2 years younger than Bergeron though.

Crosby does. I can't wait to see it, but I fear over-passing.

I just want to see Crosby and Giroux on ice together, on the same team, be it the same line or on PP.

I never bought the whole dumbass "Giroux wasn't on the Olympic team because of Crosby" conspiracy garbage. I think it was a bad decision to leave him off, but I think it was TC looking at him having a slow 15 games to start the year and picking players who were on a hot streak at the time.

So I don't think it will be how they work together in this tournament that has much of an impact on the World Cup team, it'll probably just be whoever is playing best at the time who goes.

I also think the whole Crosby vs Giroux thing is exaggerated because of the Flyers vs Pens rivalry, not because they necessarily have some unique issue with one another. Every team hates each other during games, especially when they play each other often, but it's not like they fight each other every game or more than they get into it with other players. Especially since I've only ever heard great things about both guys off the ice, they don't seem like the kind of people to hold super grudges or do anything that hurts their team in any way.
