those lineups against SVK...what a joke
against SWE Zacha has to be with Pastrnak, then put Spacek to the 3rd line, just stop wasting him in the 4th, and god please take away Mandat as far as you can from the 2nd and put him to the 4th

Yeah I was pretty worried when I saw those line ups. The big problem with Prerost getting rid of so much talent, is if he cant find the right chemistry with these guys, then we could be in trouble.
IF we had Chlapik, Jenys, Karabacek, Zboril, then chemistry isn't as crucial and the individual talent can have some success.
It's so simple.. Why doesn't Prerost get this? I'm starting to think that he just simply doesn't understand. And he is putting too much faith in Vrana and Pastrnak. Its ok to do that, they are fantastic, but the other teams have guys at the same level and more.
So yes I agree that Zacha needs to be on the 2nd line and Spacek 3rd. Then we could be real contenders I think. Oh and PP Line 1? Why not make it Vrana-Zacha-Pastrnak? Ive seen Zacha on the powerplay. His shot is amazing. He HAS to be there.
I suspect they want to prove that "youth in extraliga" is success. They'll finish 4th in group and get eliminated by USA/CAN in QF and we'll hear "we get eliminated by strong opponent, but look, number of players from czech league has dramatically improved, so it's actually success"

Kubalik will be captain, Kämpf and Nemecek alternate. Also Vanecek was in the net against Finland which i didn't know i thought Svoboda was there. so Vitek will be probably starter

But what I really don't get is that he doesn't seem to care to win a medal? Like wouldn't he want to give the team (him) the best chance? It doesn't make sense.

Yeah it doesn't make any sense at all....I dunno guys, I feel like Prerost has regressed in his coaching....maybe because he doesn't know how to handle a team with a lot of star players? Who knows....either way, let's see what happens in the first couple of games. If the worst comes to the worst and we don't win in the QF we still get another shot at it next year with our silver team core and a better coach in Petr.
But Merry Christmas everyone!

Exactly.. and that should be better team on paper (even though it may be without Pastrnak, Vrana or Zacha). I just hope Petr will really replace Prerost.
It may look little bit silly speaking about next year since we haven't even started this years tournament...
but I must say I kinda lost my hopes for a good result here.. I just feel someway weird about the whole thing. I don't really know anything about it but something tells me that there isn't ideal atmosphere in the team. Right now, I'm not very confident in us being real danger for other top teams but who knows, the first match will tell us more.At least I won't be so much disappointed if we fail and will be very pleasantly surprised if we are for real after all.

Nemecek Alternate????? Hahahahahahahah oh Prerost. I really hope Nemecek proves us wrong and has a fantastic tournament. Chances are extremely slim though lol

Vaclav Nemecek was member of Czechoslovakian team in 1990 in Italy.
Members of coaching staff are probably the only ones who like Nemecek. Unfortunately they built the team.
Nemecek is terrible. Zero mobility, stiff feet, stone hands. And he played on PP in November in Prerov. He had plenty of good chances to score from in close but was unable to finish due to his stones. Sorry hands...

How do you see our chances with the omission of Zboril, Jenys, Chlapik and Karabacek, Czechexpert? Is it as grim as we think?

Yeah hes horrible. And him being Alternate also means he will likely get a prominent role on the team. That's pretty sad. The only other teams that would have nemecek on their roster is Germany, Denmark, Slovakia(maybe). Very ridiculous that a team this good has a guy like this.

I'm not very well-versed with our current generation of young players, but my first impression is worse than last year, which is surprising to me, given the hype these guys got before the start of tourney. Talented forward group, played little too much individually for my liking and their backchecking leaves a lot to be desired, but these are the sort of things, which can be improved with some time. The real problem (and it has been for years) is that the defensemen again look like a bunch of immobile pylons without any kind of ability to create something (well other than a turnover). Vaněček is pretty much the only guy I've seen frequently before the tourney started in Benátky and he didn't seem bad, but not really great either. I hope it was just a bad game but honestly, this team doesn't really scream "medalist" to me ...
