How has Pastrnak looked?
First two games he looked like he wants to do too much by himself and it definitely wasn't for the best. This last game he looked like he wants do to too much by himself and it definitely was for the best ...

Anyway, I'm gonna go ahead and say that while I think, that this is one of the worst czech teams in recent years, I think it has more to do with the team play and probably system than with individual quality of players. I definitely understand what people see in players like Ondřej Kaše, Vrána, Pastrňák or even Zacha (he isn't productive but damn, all the little things he does on ice, he'll be a monster if developed correctly), but the team itself just doesn't work. It's a cheap way to blame coach, but seriously, if you want to have team from Europe because of teamwork, why is that the thing which this team lacks the most? Did they even have training together before this tourney? I mean Přerost couldn't be bothered to get to know some "small fry" like team Switzerland, so maybe he didn't think, that something bothersome like training could be useful too ...

The sad thing about this whole thing is that Prerost already resigned after last year's tournament, but no-one else took the job.

So no matter how much we complain about the fact that someone else could have done a better job, the fact is, no-one could have because no-one wanted it.

So I think the blame doesn't solely lie with Prerost, but also with CSLH for not being able to attract anyone to the job. (And the reason Prerost got the job is supposedly because no-one wanted it in the first place! I mean, back then, who could blame them? We sucked and were playing in the relegation round the first two years).

Why is this team under-performing, on paper they should be top 6 at the very least, some even had them playing for a medal, but are in danger of playing to not be relegated, now I do think they will beat Germany to stay, but really this team should be playing better considering who they have?

You look few pages back and you'll know more. But briefly: some players chosen aren't good enough, several omissions, nonsense line-ups and bad coaching overall

what were the line combinations for Czechs today?
Was there more chemistry compared to other games? Id like to think so considering they outshot Denmark 48-14..

The same as before.

Better chemistry, Pasta was excellent. They played better than before but still have a lot of issues.

We're screwed. We now have to beat Russia in regulation or OT to get to the QF. I fear that we're heading to the relegation round.

After all this, I wouldn't mind relegation round if we save ourselves there. Just hope Finns will win against Germany tomorrow.

I even think we have to beat Russia in regulation, OT win would be enough just in case Sweden doesn't beat Swiss in regulation. Oh boy, this is not good, not good.

Meh, the goal was semifinal according to Přerost, the only difference is the key game is one match earlier. Honestly, I am happy that we are in a must win scenario. I doubt, that we would perform well at QF after our performances. If we beat Russia we could go on a run, if we lose, well too bad.

To be honest, I don't care about QF at all now. I just keep thinking what could happen if we really get relegated. What would happen with our great 96+97 team with Jakub Petr next year. That would be little sport disaster.

Finland hosts next year, they cannot be relegated. So if Finland loses to Germany, the 5th place team in Group B will be relegated

I just can´t imagine Germany or us beating you best of 3.

Tie breaking is extremely confusing.

Should three or more teams be tied on points, then a tie breaking formula will be applied as follows, creating a sub-group amongst the tied teams. This process will continue until only two or none of the teams remain tied. In the case of two tied teams remaining, the game between the two would then be the determining tie-breaker as the game could not end as a tie. In the case of none of the teams being tied, the criteria specified in the respective step applies.

Step 1: Taking into consideration the games between each of the tied teams, a sub-group is created applying the points awarded in the direct games amongst the tied teams from which the teams are then ranked accordingly.

I think that this means, if Swiss lose in regulation + OT Win for Czech Republic would be this tiebreaker:

1. Switzerland 4 Points (Reg win vs Czech, SOL vs Denmark)
2. Denmark 3 points
3. Czech 2 Points

So I'm confused, I think this means Switzerland and Denmark advance because none of them are tied, more specifically Denmark and the Czechs.

So I believe the required criteria for them to advance is:

Regulation win vs Russia, nothing else matters.

OT win vs Russia, Swiss force OT or win. And this is what confuses me, is the tiebreaker really this ****ing stupid that the Swiss getting another point is then only requires them to get a OT win?

I am going to the Russia-Czech game tomorrow at the ACC. I got pretty great seats for a decent price. I have no particular rooting interest other than to see a great game, so who are some Czech players I should keep an eye on? I am having a brutal time trying to find any detailed roster breakdowns for anyone but Canada.

Who is favoured to get drafted high? Who is already NHL property?

David Pastrnak - 2014 Bruins pick, he's having an amazing season in the AHL (27 pts in 23 games) as an 18 year old, 14th in AHL scoring despite having 10 less games played than the rest of the top scorers, he's already played 5 games for the Bruins and is expected to play more after this tournament. Very creative, more of a playmaker than a shooter.

Jakub Vrana - 2014 Capitals pick, having a very good season in the SHL (.70 PPG), likes to shoot the puck, led the U18's in goals last year

Pavel Zacha - Expected to be a top 5 pick in the 2015 draft, big, strong center that has it all

Daniel Vladar, Michael Spacek and David Kase should all get drafted in the first 3 rounds, shame our coach is an idiot otherwise there'd be a lot more players to keep an eye on.

The Hockey News magazine predicted that they would win bronze.

You're right. What a crazy scenario  Finland are safe, no matter what.

EDIT: If we won the best of three vs Finland, wouldn't we avoid relegation but Finland would be relegated but still come back next year (because they are hosts)? Otherwise it wouldn't make any sense to play the relegation round if we knew we were getting relegated no matter the result?

It's still possible for us to finish 2nd in the group though and play Slovakia in the QF: if we beat Russia in regulation and Sweden beats Switzerland in regulation. That would give us a two way tie for second place with Russia (5 points each) that we'd win. Russia would come 3rd, and Switzerland would play in the relegation round because they lost to Denmark (both teams would be tied for 4 points).

What a crazy tournament
