If the Czechs play like they did vs Russia, Slovakia has no chance unless Godla makes Godla saves.

Absolutely true if Czechs play the same as they did against Russians. Well, if we lose, I can at least laugh at the Pejorative Slurs from our country claiming that Czechs are lucky. Saying that Czechs are lucky after our win against Finland, that´s not even Pejorative Sluration, I can´t even find a right term for it.

I don't want to offend Slovaks, but they always considered Czechs lucky. If Czechs win, they are "just lucky ********", if they lose, it's "well deserved". I guess it's something in the Slovak mentality.. they badly need to start worry mainly about themselves and then about the others (Czechs). It went so far, that they are more satisfied with our defeat than their victory. So... may the luckier team wins tonight.

Jagr Å těstí a Náhoda :laugh: It's a good joke though, gotta give them credit.

Well, that´s exactly what I am saying. Reading through the comments on the Facebook of our hockey federation, I really have strong urges to change my citizenship.

Once I saw it even in the news on one of their TVs, it was with Plekanec though. The title said something like: "Will it be Plekanec - Štěstí - Náhoda again?" Really had to laugh
At least, they give us credit for those two players :D

Thank you, Mr. Prerost. Great coach.
Also greetings to Dusik and Antos: "We are in the semifinal after victory over Russia."

BEST PLAYERS OF EACH TEAM SELECTED BY COACHES
9 PASTRNAK David
26 ZDRAHAL Patrik
8 NEMECEK David

It's ridiculous.

Bahahahahaha.

Don't worry, that's probably the last time you'll ever see Nemecek on a national team roster again.

No wonder that the players weren't playing like a one team and were so effortless.
They are not stupid. They can see that Nemecek wasn't one of best players. Not even close. And when they see how he plays top line minutes, plays PP, PK and then eventually he is even selected as one of the best players... they might not express their displeasure out loud but this just cannot create good atmosphere in the locker room.
Btw. Zdrahal wasn't one of the best as well, that's for sure. Where's Kostalek?

My choice:
Pastrnak
Zacha/D. Kase
Kostalek/Stencel/Svoboda

The line you guys were looking for earlier is actually Klika - Štěstí - Náhoda :D

I agree it's ridiculous, but it's a good joke. Some fans even us it when Slovakia has some luck in a game, because it sounds better in Czech than Slovak.

Then again, I'd say that sometimes your coaches or fans can be pretty terrible as well after losing to Slovakia. It just doesn't happen as often as Slovakia losing, though that is caused by you being better.

But I still have no idea what game Prerost was watching last night in which Slovakia had only two scoring chances, lol.

So we finished with a PP% of 5% (2nd worst in the tournament after Finland) and a penalty kill of 56% (worst in the tournament). Our FO% was 34% in the game against Slovakia.

In contrast, last year we were 77% on the PK (4th), 19% on the PP (6th) and had a FO% of 59% in the QF game vs Finland.

The PP and PK percentages this year are statistically the worst we have had in the last 14 years!!!! (I can't find stats for earlier than 2000 and there no stats for this in 2004). Thank you Prerost.

Those numbers are beyond horrible. Prerost needs to go, that's more than obvious. This was one of the worst coached tournament of Czech team I have ever seen, I would say maybe even THE worst.

How would I rank the players:

Vanecek D : most of the goals weren't his fault, still did nothing much to help the team
Svoboda A- : good performances in both games he was in net

Klok D+ : seemed little disinterested to me, looked little better as the tourney went on
Kostalek B+ : good defensive play, steady performances
Masin C : pretty good play in his own zone but had terrible game in QF
Nemecek D : actually thought it would be worse than that
Scotka D+ : didn't show anything
Stencel C- : had a one good game against Denmark, otherwise wasn't the worst but could be much better

Gorcik B- : good for his 4th line duties, pleasant surprise for me
O.Kase C- : made some good passes but expected more
D.Kase B- : worked really hard, led by example
Kubalik D+ : except for his important tying goal against Denmark invisible
Kampf C- : worked hard, battling but expected little more
Mandat D- : invisible guy, I usually noticed him just when he made bad decision in our odd man rush
Pastrnak A- : got better and better as the tournament went on, sometimes was still trying to do too much but his impact was huge
Ruzicka C- : didn't show much, sometimes got good shots
Spacek C : playing limited role, didn't have a much of a chance to show what he can do, he was good in QF
Vrana C- : good first game against Sweden, then disappeared, big disappointment for me
Zacha B- : great all around game, didn't show that much when it came to offense though
Zdrahal C : very important goals against Russia, looked little better last matches

Prerost F : there is no need for more words

Agreed with the ratings.

I just read that Plekanec texted the masseur of the Czech team that he should warn the players about what happened to the national team vs Slovakia in 2012.....seems like it wasn't just us who were concerned....

Is there a story as to why he was cut from the team as a 2nd round pick?

Yes, there certainly is. Apparently he missed the team's video meeting because he slept in. That's why he was kicked from the team. Most of us think that Prerost was looking for an excuse to cut him (he had him penned into the 4th line from an article I just read a moment ago) or something worse happened and they decided to cover it up with this story.

I was gonna post this in the Czech forum, but more people will probably see it here so here it is. Some quotes from an article where Prerost reviews the tournament: (http://hokej.idnes.cz/miroslav-prer...tace.aspx?c=A150104_110338_reprezentace_ald):

"I am not convinced that players from the 4th line decide games."

Didn't you regret not taking more players from Canada, given that the tournament was played on a NA ice rink?

"I don't know of any. If you know of any, let me know and we can discuss them."

On the absence of Zboril (http://novy.hokej.cz/odpovednost-nas-dostala-do-stresu-tvrdi-prerost-za-nastupce-vidi-petra/5004865)

"First of all, he wasn't with us for any tournament. To speculate with this possibility is one thing. Secondly, to have 4-5 players belonging to the U-18 team in an U-20 tournament is risky. We were under enough stress as it was. Zboril isn't that offensive-minded anyway, we're missing the kind of defensemen that Canada or Sweden have."
