What's Kapanen's problem, anyway? He looks quite okay out there with his speed and moves. He is a winger, god damnit. And a typical one. What has this overrated Lehkonen done?? The kid has a big heart and that's about it. Nothing to cheer about.

Lehkonen-Hintz-Puljujarvi
Aho-Kalpudas-Rantanen
Vahatalo-Rauhala-Ojamaki

Ikonen-Mustonen-Kapanen - use sparingly
Breaking up the third line (Aho-Kalapudas-Pulju) would probably do more harm than good as these guys have a history of playing together, but their line should be the first line just because they have been the most dangerous. As much as I'd like there to be a hint of sarcasm in the suggestion of dropping Ikonen, Kapanen and Mustonen to the bottom, I can't help but agree and hope that these guys don't read these forums. Kapanen's confidence level wouldn't exactly rise if he read all the things said about his performance :shakehead

A third of FINs goals.

Kalapudas has been pretty useless on offensive zone. I hope they try someone else (Hintz or even Rauhala) between Aho and Puljujarvi, because Finland really need good offensive first line against Sweden and I don't see that Kalapudas is good enough for that.

One of the few players actually trying to drive the play towards the net every time he touches the puck instead of trying to look cool with some stick-handling display or pretending to control the game on the perimeter.

I don't care who shows them, I watch them any way.

But I root for YLE. People need hockey now that YLE-Tax is official. I'm not pleased at all to pay the tax and see just champions league football ect bs.

Stop buying those American series. Who ever wants to see them can use netflix for very good price or watch the free FOX tv channel (I like their new foxplay.fi btw. Its becoming solid channel with own local production and murican import stuff). Spend the money on sports, more rare TV-series and creative omatuotanto movies / series like docventures.

Yle I would suppose, assuming they can afford it. At least they should be interested.

They just announced that they will dropping the UEFA Champions League, so presumably they'll have some extra wiggle room in the budget. Hopefully they can make it happen, always liked their broadcasts when they had the WHCs way back.

Yle is probably only goverment-company that is still prettymuch outdoing the free market competition.

UEFA CL is on government owned channels???

Tuesday night game plus the final. It's always been on free tv in some form, commercial or non-commercial channel. Not after next year though I would think that MTV could use some ad revenue that one game a week on free tv could bring them (the games on YLE can get 100-300K, depending on teams).

I think YLE could indeed pick up the two EHT event for the next two years and U-20 WJC. With the latter though they'd be at the mercy of the host broadcaster to a degree. I'm not sure if TSN for example airs every game in every year's tournament. Next year's tournament being in Finland, YLE could be the host broadcaster which would mean excellent production value.

YLE would be fantastic for Finnish hockey. Imho the wind went out of Liiga when Hockey Night and the orange jackets went away and it went on pay-tv.
Since then the casual fan didn't get interested in their teams story as it grew over the season and who won didn't seem to matter anymore. YLE televising and hosting it at the same time, I think we'd have huge crowd and buzz about it going on..

Any way to make our voice heard to Yle? The only link I can find is this "news hint" thing. There should be some way to make Yle wake up to the realization that 1) the next U20 tournament is in Finland and 2) some of the most exciting, draft-eligibile players Finland has ever produced will play in that tournament. More than enough to justify "public interest". If I were Yle, I'd pay UEFA CL money to get the rights to the junior tournament. For once, the money would be spent on something Finnish people care about.

Highly doubt that Yle is interested in U20 TV rights. They would come cheap i'm sure but the masses in Finland don't know and care about this tournament. Lets be honest at the end they are bunch of kids playing hockey. They could generate some kind of interest in home games but when the u20 goes back to America no one would watch them.

I must say I am very disappointed with Kasperi Kapanen so far. I had expected a lot more from a first round player with near PPG in Liiga. On the other hand I really like Puljujärvi. From someone who watched a lot of NHL hockey in the early 90:s, I can see the "Lemieux Lite" comparison. I am sure he will grow up to be Finlands next pure goal scorer.

Kapanen seems to have a different mode for the NT (and not in a good way), although he did play much better in the last game (hope he will keep that up). I don't know if it stems from how much it always meant for his dad to play for Finland or from something else, but I think he puts a lot more pressure on himself in these games compared to regular Liiga games.

Always thought Kapanen doesn't fit well into smaller ice surface but his training camp with the Penguins made me think that maybe he can adjust.

This tournament is proving me wrong.

He can adjust, it will just take time, just like it took time with Armia and Pulkkinen.

Kapanen needs at least 2 season at AHL imo.

YLE is airing a lot of sports right now that "the masses" care a lot less than the U20's hockey.

I can see MTV3 airing UCL exclusively in the future and YLE grabbing the rights for U20's (+EHT) as they haven't got any hockey right now. Nelonen are content with Liiga and Viasat with NHL and KHL.
