I would go with Saros as starting goalie. Saros was such a wall on last year in U 20 and in Liiga. And he is doing great now too. Btw isn't Saros pretty small? Is there any small keepers in NHL? Like under 180cm.

Small and small - Hasek was 182cm.
What really does 2-3 cm prevent him from doing? Being able to reach the very very top left/right shots? Those will be goals most of times against anyone also..

I think it was on mythbusters, they took a sumo wrestler and made him play goal, some scrub was chosen to shoot the puck, he scored almost every shot. Its not size its reflexes, if Juuse keeps those up, does yoga, pilates whatever, nobody will ever know hes 2-3cm shorter

Hasek was so special that it's kind of pointless to compare anyone to him. Lack of size is and will always be a huge challenge for Saros. But small size doesn't hurt goalies that much in juniors where the flow is more straight forward coast-to-coast hockey and the quality of shots isn't the highest. Lack of size hurts him in situations where goalies need to trust just covering (when not seeing the shot and when there is an elite shooter in prime scoring sector).

I don't understand why the size should be important for a gaolie in ice hockey. I think much more important is if he is a good skater, can move quickly, disposes about good reflexes and is sure with his catch glove and the handling of his stick respectively the blade of the stick.

To be good in all these things it's not necessary to be big for an ice hockey goalie.

Really looking forward to watching them play the U.S tomorrow. Then Canada plays Slovakia so I don't plan on leaving my couch at all.

Ikonen and Niku going under the radar!??

Niku yes. He's been really good this year. Defensive game has taken a huge step forward from last year. Should be top4 d-man if he plays with Mäkinen.

Ikonen could score a few goals but I don't think he will be big scorer in this tournament. Maybe 8th best forward in the Finnish team.

Halak, Enroth, bernier etc etc. Size isn't going to stop Saros from being #1 goalie in the NHL.

At least the US game is on at a decent time in Finland. Hope it gets plenty of viewers.

It'll, its on prime time and against US. Prob gonna get more viewers than the other games in group stage.

Hopefully Finns can pull an upset. Although US beat Fin 9-1 or something in Lake Placid... :help:

Lehkonen is captain, but who are the two alternate captains? I think i saw Mustonen with an "A" on his shirt?

Well, they only broadcast these games on channel that you need a card if you want to see them, dont know if you can watch them otherwise without or a ****** stream:help:,so I dont expect too many viewers.

The Finnish coach basically said his panties are already stained so one shouldn't expect too much. Hopefully USA won't get double digits.

Its good that the coach is scared(pants stained) cuz then he realy get the guys to be on their ********** toes. I think I am optimistic and say fin wins another OT or SO.. they will never ever do 8 goals..
