So... the lines tonight were quite interesting.

They were giving a shot at Hintz down the middle, and looks like he did quite well there. That 2nd line seemed to click as a whole. Ikonen scored, and Rantanen looked good as well.

Judging by what we saw here, this is how I'd set it up against USA:

Lehkonen - Mustonen - Kapanen
Ikonen - Hintz - Rantanen
Aho - Kalapudas - Puljujärvi
Lammikko - Björninen - Ojamäki

Thats how I wanted the first line all the time :yo:

Cuts are Erik Autio, Teemu Vuorisalo, Mikke Levo and Juho Lammikko.

Goaltender:
Ville Husso, HIFK
Kaapo Kähkönen, TUTO Hockey
Juuse Saros, HPK

Defensemen:
Julius Honka, Texas Stars AHL
Mika Ilvonen, ST. Cloud State University NCAA
Alex Lintuniemi, Ottawa 67´s CHL
Joonas Lyytinen, KalPa
Aleksi Mäkelä, Ilves
Atte Mäkinen, Tappara
Sami Niku, JYP

Forwards:
Sebastian Aho, Kärpät
Hannes Björninen, Pelicans
Roope Hintz, Ilves
Juuso Ikonen, JYP
Antti Kalapudas, Kärpät
Kasperi Kapanen, KalPa
Artturi Lehkonen, Frölunda SWE
Aleksi Mustonen, Ilves
Niko Ojamäki, Ässät
Jesse Puljujärvi, Kärpät
Mikko Rantanen, TPS
Otto Rauhala, Tappara
Julius Vähätalo, TPS

--

Lammikko was surprise cut. Puljujärvi in, great!

So assuming Hintz plays center:

Lehkonen-Mustonen-Kapanen
Ikonen-Hintz-Rantanen
Aho-Kalapudas-Puljujärvi
Björninen-Rauhala-Ojamäki
Vähätalo

Lintuniemi-Honka
Niku-Mäkinen
Mäkelä-Lyytinen
Ilvonen

Saros
Husso

Lammikko being cut wasn't really that surpising as Björninen and Ojamäki have played well and are better options for PK.

Suprise to hear about Lammikko been cut. Is this the usual Jortikka hating guys from NA, or is it simple as other guys were better?

Björninen, Ojamäki and Aho simply were better, nothing really dramatic in this one.

I would've taken him over Rauhala but seems like Jortikka wanted to take good leaders (Ilvonen, Rauhala who have both been captains with the national team before) for the smaller roles.

Not the cuts I would've made, but not incompherensible either. The guys who really should be there are still there.

I guess in the end it came down to versatility. One can use someone like Vähätalo in a plenty of roles in a pinch while Lammikko would have been pretty much limited to being a bottom-six winger. On D, Ilvonen most likely made it in to have another option to man the blueline on PP. Not that he's dazzled in the role... but was the best pick out of the ones remaining.

Overall, the group looks... better than expected, actually. Only thing to feel bummed about is the loss of Tuulola, but no can do.

Yeah, Lammikko being cut was the biggest surprise and not the cut I would have made either but it is not THAT surprising. Wingers looks pretty good anyway and I feel that Ojamäki is better pick for 4th line role.

Lammikko will have his chance to shine next year.

Didn't expect the Lammikko cut either. Surprised Ilvonen made it, but maybe that says something about the general quality of the defensemen in this year's group.

I'm actually really surprised that Lammikko was cut from the team. I thought he was pretty much a lock due to his NA hockey experience.

I'm pretty much OK with that final roster. Interesting to see what kind of a lineup Jortikka has in mind.

So, what about Husso, guys? Will he get starts in the group stage? Or is it mr. Saros all way long?

Hopefully, Husso can really challenge Saros this time and take the starter's spot from him...

And how do you see Finland's PP units shaping up?

I Think they're going to split the games in the prelim group, just like last year. After that there should be a clear #1.

Some friends from Finland. You can tell my please which Finland tv channel will by transmit matches from World Junior Championship? TH

That would be MTV3's pay channel, and just Finnish games until semis i think.

Way MTV3's ? is it not only one MTV3. I have only one MTV3 on 1.0w,and other MTV juniori, leffa, max.... is somthing other? TH

sorry, i thought it would be easily guessed, that the games comes on sport channels..

I have a bett that says finland wins against usa and czhech winns against swe, it was 23 times the money when I made the bet. And actually I think that is crazy good odds.. cheers, marry christmas

Saaros have better saving pressentage, that tells that he have allso got more shots against him and allso saved more shots? Its not so hard to understand. Husso allso plays in a better team so thats that.. unless u have watched every HPK game and HIFK game you realy cant tell who have ben the worst.. absolutely not via stats. End of that goalie discussion

Just cause he has a better % doesn't mean he's faced more shots, plus it's only .001 better, Husso's team isn't that much better than Saros. Well you just said who was better by stats and not games. Actually you can use stats for goalies. Fact is that Saros had much better numbers last season.

Yes in this case it did, cuz I answered to the statement that saaros had more goals against him then husso.. And then I wrote that saaros have to had more shots on him because he have better saving percentage(even when he have more goals against) and yes that tells that he have had more shots against him. I looked it up and yes he had.. but only by like 40 shots.. but thats allso why I said you cant decide who is the best of these two goalies when they have so similar stats.(If you dont have happened to watch all their games ofc.. then you might feel the other is better then the other..)

It's kinda pointless to bicker before the tournament that who's the better goalie, they're both very good young goalies that carry their respective Liiga team. Like last year, they'll both get an equal opportunity to show who's worthy of the #1. Saros didn't really shine until the game against Switzerland, where Husso completely dropped the ball with multiple soft goals and got pulled.
