You should do a breakdown of the rosters of the past several years and watch as the patterns emerge... HC seems to have a proportional template as to how the team should look, and over the past several years, the last 3 in particular, it fits perfectly into a template a little too neatly for my liking... it has been that way since a certain someone was hired in 2010...and whose involvement with the junior team shouldn't be anything more than organizing the daily laundry schedule for team uniforms.

The last time it was way out of whack of the template was 2009... coincidentally we won that year. funny how that works.

Lets see if HC continues with the same template this year.

You should do an anti HC rant blog, I'd read that.

Iv found in recent years canada hasnt had very good team chemistry. Are there any dynamic duos that we could put on a line together? The only ones that comes to mind are Carter Verhaeghe/Brendan Perlini from Niagara and Nick Ritchie/Eric Cornel from peterborough

I've thought about it. If they muff this one up (2015 WJHC) then I hope heads will roll at HC. If not, then I will launch the HC rant blog thing. b/c other than the NHL Olympics (run, managed, chosen and decided on by NHL executives) HC personnel i.e. Scott Salmond and Co. have 1 tournament win in 5 years. That's 1 tournament win out of 15 tournaments that are run, managed, chosen and decided on by HC staff) How Canadian hockey fans year after year let this goof ball off the hook is astounding to me. I'm discounting the Ivan Hlinka summer exhibition tournament. Nobody gives a **** about that...and if anybody at HC wants to defend their record based on the Ivan Hlinka tournament, should be fired on the spot.

I'd like to see a figure (ie someone else do the math :D) of the roster turnover between the U18 team and the U20 team a year or two later and success of the U20 teams. I wonder if they're outsmarting themselves by throwing in guys who are the "flavour of the week" and messing with what was good chemistry.

you discount the ivan hlinka but consider U-18 where we cant even send out best squad due to chl playoffs and u-17 where is less impacted by chl playoffs but Canada fields multiple teams diluting the overall talent of each team....

A pre-season summer exhibition tournament that no other hockey Federation takes seriously, especially the Americans. Again, if anybody at HC wants to stand on that IH record, they need some sense slapped in to them.

IIHF U18 tournament rolls around there are only 8 teams left competing out of the 60 CHL teams... missing out maybe 6-10 real National Team players.. HC likes their PR so much of all the depth we have... well then, they should either produce more gold or lay off the PR. I for one am sick of sick of listening to their brand of BS.

U17. It was their own choice to send 5 regional teams. They didn't have to, but now lets see what they do with 3 National Teams.

i think greg chase would look good between ritchie and virtanen on the fourth line, thats some serious crash and banging on north american style ice

like it or not Gauthier probably is penciled into 4th line C

wouldnt mind it if gauthier actually takes a step forward next year, usually second year players have a guaranteed spot on the team but i would say gauthiers is only penciled in. If he remains stagnant offensively i think it would be better to take some other looks

I hope the goaltending that goes to the tourney will be Jarry/Comrie.

But I know it will be Fucale/Jarry.

#winz

Also, I knew Petan was undersized, but I didn't think he was 17 lbs

No Mason MacDonald or Brent Moran? Pretty shocking to me since those 2 will probably be the starters for next season.

Drouin-McDavid-Lazar
Horvat-Petan-Ritchie
DalColle-Domi-Virtanen
Fabbri-Reinhart-Gauthier

Extra: Baptiste

Ekblad (overrated)- Nurse
Morin-Morrissey
Bigras(Grew up and went to same elementary school with him) -Sanheim

Extra: Fleury

Fucale-Jarry

Great to see it back in Canada. The European cities don't have the support for this tourney the way Canadians do.

I hope they finally just pick the best players and stop trying to balance the selections across the leagues.

What do you think the chances of Morgan Klimchuk making it?

I'd love to see this team

Horvat - McDavid - Lazar
Virtanen - Petan - Ritchie
Dal Colle - Domi - Klimchuk
Bennett - Fabbri - Gauthier
Dickenson

Nurse - Morrisey
Morin - Theodore
Bigras - Sanheim
Bowey

Fucale
Jarry

Obviously a few players in the NHL like Drouin, MacKinnon, Monahan, Ekblad, Reinhart

Just hit the Europeans on the forecheck and next time we dump it in they'll back away from the puck, happens all the time to little kids maybe not at the Olympics but Ovechkin became invisible once we started hitting him.

monahan too old either way and i think klimchuk is in tough to make it, although he kind of fits in as a bubble player with three or four others. It will depend who comes out of the gates faster to begin this season, still many spots up in the air

on a side note i really hope morin has a monster year, hopefully he come this year focused on his offensive game a little more, he is trending in the right direction a la nurse

Given R. Fabbri's progression + outstanding play-off and an invite to the SEC, then I'm curious to see if a 4th.line of J DICKENSON R FABBRI Z NASTASIUK would work come tourny time.. some instant chemistry with pair from Guelph. Although can't say I saw much of Guelph's season other than the Mem Cup...and I don't think they played a lot together, if any...but still something HC should be considering.

not really, canada have played very physical against sweden many times in wjc, did not see any "back away from the puck".

and the euro teams plays physical in wjc. grönborg, swedens coach will build a team that will suit perfect on small rinks with lots of size and gritty players.

but yeah...it will be a lot more physical with the small rinks...I like that. I hope Canada sends a really mean 4th line.

Ritchie, Virtanen, possibly Bennett, Bleackley, Dal Colle, Perlini, Lazar, all are some big kids who hit hard. I think Canada will be an imitating team to play against and alot of the smaller teams won't be used to this hitting and will quickly lose the game.

Wait, isn't Virtanen injured right now? Why is he on the summer camp invite list?

He will most likely attend but not take part in any on-ice drills or play in any games. Another HC B.S. rule whereby to be eligible for the team and an invite to December camp, you have to attend the summer camp.

Dude, you are about 10 years behind the times... European junior teams who are contenders for this tournament, i.e. Sweden, Finland and Russia, are just as big and just as likely to dish out the physical play as we are...the intimidation factor is a thing of the past.
