Hockey Canada will announce the coaching staff on June 12th for Canada’s National Junior Team for the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship

Hockey Canada to announce the coaching staff for 2015 WJC in Montreal tomorrow at 10 AM... if I had to guess - Benoit Groulx gets the job.

If that's their choice, then I'm not overly impressed.

I don't understand how Horvat can not be on the team? He'll be the one of the older ones, he's a leader and shown in the OHL he is a very good two-way talent that comes up big in big games. He'll be able to shutdown a 17 year old Jack Eichel IMO, Horvat is a strong kid.

Tyler Bertuzzi looks like an interesting choice (good suggestion Brewster) he can be a good energy guy.

Unless he's with the Canucks, he'll be there. Mr Writer just isn't a fan.

If Domi starting to play good...

Reinhart - McDavid - Petan
Domi - Horvat - Lazar
Dal Colle - Bennett - Perlini
Ritche - Gauthier - Virtanen

Ekblad - Nurse
Morrisey - Bigras
Fleury - Morin (2 giants)

Jarry
Comrie
Fucale

The way the Canucks handle prospects, I don't see him making the team (I also hope he doesn't as a Canucks fan for the WJC :P).

Domi - Horvat - Lazar
Dal Colle - Bennett - Perlini
Ritche - Gauthier - Virtanen

I like that lineup but I would throw McCann over Gauthier and even Bertuzzi somewhere in there.

that is a nice looking team. Can you dump Domi though?

Hockey Canada needs to make all the players eligible, not so many from each junior league. Take the best players available.

Benoit Groulx will be named head coach of Canada's U20 Team.

Doesn't matter who the coach is when Hockey Canada tries to be nice to everyone and doesn't send the best players. Send the best players regardless of what league they play in, and I could coach them to a gold medal.

Didn't they announce last year that Sutter would be the head coach for 2014 and 2015?

No, they announced last year that Sutter would be the U20 coach and Hunter the U18 coach at Hlinka. Which I, at the time, took it to mean that Hunter would be the front runner to get the U20 gig this year.

They finished 4th in Ufa.

HC likes teams that are proportionally representative of the country and of the 3 leagues. If the country's 22 best players just happen to play in the WHL, HC wouldn't send a team made up of only those 22 players. That is what he meant by "best players". HC considers a whole lot more when it comes to our teams than "best players".

This is complete speculation

If these players don't make the jump next year, the d corps looks to be solid. So many of these players were part of the U18 triumph in Sochi as well. Should be quite a solid backend for the tourney. Which players do you think can take a spot away from one of these guys whether it's a 96 or 95?

Morrissey
McKeown
Bigras
Bowey
Theodore
Nurse
Morin

Is Pulock eligible?

Thoughts, barring most of these kids don't make the show. Looks to be solid group.

Duclair
Klimchuk
Bennett
McDavid
Horvat
Lazar
Virtanen/Dal Colle
Baptiste
Verhaeghe
Ritchie
Gauthier

Let's hope these guys pick Canada's BEST PLAYERS and not players to play a certain system.

You should do a breakdown of the rosters of the past several years and watch as the patterns emerge... HC seems to have a proportional template as to how the team should look, and over the past several years, the last 3 in particular, it fits perfectly into a template a little too neatly for my liking... it has been that way since a certain someone was hired in 2010...and whose involvement with the junior team shouldn't be anything more than organizing the daily laundry schedule for team uniforms.

The last time it was way out of whack of the template was 2009... coincidentally we won that year. funny how that works.

Lets see if HC continues with the same template this year.

again like I said complete speculation

Forwards : ( in no particular order)
McDavid
Duclair
Lazar
Petan
Dal Colle
Virtanen
Bennett
Klimchuk
Ritchie
Gauthier
Fabbri
Nastasiuk
Baptiste

Guys like Verhaeghe, Perlini, Dickinson, Dauphin , McCann, Bleackley, etc. could also potentially make the team

Defence:

Nurse
Morrissey
Morin
Bigras
Bowey
McKeown
Theodore

Players such as Heatherington, Fleury, and Sanheim could also make the team

Goalies:
Fucale
Comrie

Note: picks were made based on the prediction that the following players will be in the NHL:
Mackinnon
Drouin
Horvat
Domi
Ekblad
Reinhart

Feel free to pick this roster apart

This years team looks a bit weak unless McDavid can do some heavylifting IMO. Defense doesn't look too good aswell if Nurse and Ekblad aren't here, Morrissey, Theodore and Morin will be the top guys but still don't look like exactly #1 guys that'd I'd be comfortable with compared to Pouliot and Ekblad last year.
