Yah i bought my tickets for that game about a month ago and was lucky to get tickets. I'm sitting section D22 Rad 4 Plats 1.

It's probably the best and cheapest way to get around.
(well, the train is the best choice for Malmö Arena. But it's essentially the same ticket and price)

Any good places for Elitserien/Allsvenskan/International Hockey apparel/jerseys etc... in or around either arena??

All Sports would be great if they were Hockey
To my knowledge there isn't any league wide physical shops anywhere in the whole of Sweden.
Hopefully Malmö Redhawks will still have their little shop opened in Malmö Arena with home team stuff only during the WJC.
Would be madness if they didn't.
I'm also guessing team Sweden will bring their own apperal to either arena trying to make a buck.
Apart from that, getting hockey souvenirs around here isn't as easy as you might think.
The sports brand stores like Stadium or Intersport which are located in any mall might have something but I wouldn't put my money into it.
Usually their generic stuff isn't really cool.
Btw there is a big mall right next to Malmö Arena, called Emporia.
I'm guessing every visiting hockeyfan will take a tour in there at some point.
Don't expect much, all of the bottom part of Sweden is pretty much flat, you have to go up north to find it beautiful with auroras (northern light) and all that things. You don't have to bring your winter jacket this season, seems like south Sweden have become slightly tropical this winter, which is weird.

Unless you live on a mountain, no northern country looks good this time of year. No worries, though. I'm looking forward to experiencing another culture and watching great hockey. As for the weather, keep it warm cuz it's freezing here.
Had a snowstorm and pretty frozen but it just from nowhere became summer a few weeks ago, I bet the winter will come after new years eve as usual and be here 'till April/May. The weather in Malmö overall is pretty much as central Europe. It gets colder and colder and more snow as far north you go.
I might be in Copenhagen during new years eve so maybe I will be able to go to Malmö and watch some hockey

Actually long term forecasts have it as staying on the plus side (3-5 degrees Celsius) until the 4th of January. Possibly snow/sleet/rain on December 29th.
Finnish hockey magazine Jääkiekkolehti mentioned there would be 2000 Canadians tourists coming to the tournament. Not so much necessarily from other countries. Finns living in Sweden might attend Finland's games but Finland needs to play well to get people to travel there at this time of the year.

Should I transfer my money into swedish kronor/danish kronor before I arrive, or is using my credit card for most purchases okay (it's a british bank card)?
Also will either place accept Euros? Will each place accept the other's currency (i.e. will I be able to use Danish Kronor in Malmo or vice versa)?
I'm really just trying to cut down on the amount of currencies I have to carry with me...

I would have some pocket money in kronor but use the credit card most of the time. If you do not have any odd card it will often (to my experience) be ok to ATM money with just a small fee. Euros is not commonly accepted so I would not lean on that.
Depends on where you're staying and what you're intending to do. I know that many Canadian cards do not use the same "system" as we do which can make them hard to use in ATMs. If I were you I'd grab maybe a thousand swedish kronor before leaving and then relying on your card. Remember you will need you 4 digit pin to make purchases!

I think it'll be okay that way. How far will 1000 Krona get me?
That should depent on what and where. If you're not picky on where to eat 1000SEK should be enough for a little more than that, I should think, like a nice souvenir or more beer. Could be a good idea to try to bargain with the taxidrivers bit, a lot of money to save if you look around a bit. Some taxidrivers tries to overcharge tourists not used to swedish currency.
I guess the point of the 1000sek is some pocket money to buy a hot dog (10-25 SEK)and stuff like that.
Dont know if you actually can use Danish currency in Malmö? Anyone from Malmö/Copenhagen that knows?

As you said, it all depends where you eat but you can easily spend even more than that in one night after a few beers
Copenhagen is way more expensive though.

Usually when the danish krona is high you can pay with it in malmö in a few big stores and vise versa in köpenhamn when the swedish krona is strong. But even if you find one of those stores it's very easy to be charged more especially for someone that is used to neither currency. Ideal would be to just have everything set up at the bank in ones homecountry and change some money and/or get a 4-numbered code.

As Per My bank if you take North American credit card, have it authorized for use overseas and make sure your pin is only 4 digits. If you will use Debit card ( like I am going to do ) make sure you have 4 digit pin and your cash must be withdrawn from chequing acct. not savings. i also went and got an extra debit card just in case i get too drunk and lose my original card
