A multi-year deal between $1.5-2M is very fair for Moore. If the Rangers aren't willing to meet that price, it scares me what they're going to do. An adequate depth replacement on the market will likely cost just as much.

Makes me think that Sather is going to skimp on the bottom 6 to make a big splash in the top 6. I guess he didn't learn his lesson from the '12-13 season that having no depth is a death sentence.

It's just always something with Moore. He is very inflexible on his demands and always has been.

It boggles my mind that some people go crazy about not acquiring Spezza, and those same people want to give 5M to Christian Ehrhoff.

Islanders Closing in on Phaneuf? (E4)

"Hearing some of this from sources....stay tuned"

Which means this will not happen. But Phaneuf... oh boy. I think the Islanders will make a few splashes today.

This is my guess. I have said this numerous times, I understand finding bargain bin guys for certain positions if need be. 4LW and 4RW can be filled by role players. I have recommended Ryan Carter and Brian Gibbons as inexpensive alternates but there are others. However, in this system especially, the 4C needs to be someone who can play 10-12 minutes a night.

Brooksie playing the role of party pooper:

Larry Brooks @NYP_Brooksie
Pouliot, Stralman, BBoyle appear gone, Dom Moore may be going, DBoyle, Fayne, Carter, maybe Heatley on NYR radar nyp.st/1r8IGb8

My gosh what an ugly tweet. :help:

Do I know your clock right, FA frenzy start in 1:15?

I think we should make a push for Westgarth. Would add to the size and grit that we desperately need and isn't scared to drop the gloves.

Could probably sign him for cheap also.

I hear you, but his demands are pretty damn fair this time.

1.7-1.8 for 3 years after the season he just had for the Rangers?

It's 200-300k more than I thought. Not a big difference, but apparently the third year is the issue for Sather.

@PLeonardNYDN
Dom Moore expected 2 hit free agency, too. #NYR contacted Dom yest but havent reached out to reps in last 5 days. Something has 2 change fast

Phaneuf has one of the worst contracts in the league. I don't understand why Toronto gave that to him. I honestly think even with a good contract he's a liability on the ice.

I think Pouliot, Boyle, Stralman are all gone. I think the Rangers and Dom Moore want to work things out and I feel they will. Stralman strikes me as someone who truly wants to stay in NY but it depends on what the Rangers can offer and if anyone else throws stupid money/term at him.

Free agency scares me because we tend to pick the wrong guys to throw money at. I'd prefer the low risk signings that worked for us last year. Penner, Perreault, McBain. Check in on Ott. Do not overpay for Vanek or Moulson or Stastny or Dan Boyle....

I'll breathe easier when some of these names are off the market and not signed with the Rangers.

I think the combination of parting with significant assets to pay for one year of Spezza at 7 million as opposed to upgrading the 2nd pair RD position by getting in Ehrhoff at 5 while not parting with additonal assets to get it done makes the signing a better scenario than the trade.

What if they traded Nash in order to fit Stastny? Center is the far more important position

Im not sure why that is a pipe dream team as it would struggle to simply make the playoffs. That roster (especially with forwards) is absolutely disgusting. Where would the scoring come from?

I get that one could be wary of that roster, as it is a quite drastic overhaul, but scoring is a very weird aspect to criticise as the offensive upgrade of the team is significant.

Perreault and Kadri are two of the highest scoring 5v5 centers in the league, so they are each significant upgrades on Brassard/Richards. Kreider-Stepan-Zuccarello was our best line last year.

I totally agree. This isn't 4 years ago

We're talking about a replacement for a 3rd liner who can score 15-20g

If Sather is bear hunting, and it seems he is, im ok with signings likr this to fill out the bottom six

Heatley is SLOW. He was a 4th liner in Minnesota at the end of the year because he couldn't keep up. He can't get in position any more to get his shot off.

I don't mind Carter as plan B if Moore isn't resigned. He can handle the defensive side of the ice but doesn't come close to Moore offensively.

An inexpensive dman that I would look at would be Zach Redmond. A mobile defenseman with some offense that could fit into AV's system quite well. I think one of him, Allen or DM could fill the role of Falk.

Today has the potential to be a turning point for the next few years. For good or bad.

On that note, I really want us to take a flier on Kontiola.
