Lancers have lost 15 straight games. Will they go for a fourth coach this season?
Turns out losing is a seminal tradition for the Lancers. In their inaugural season of 1986-87, their record was 0-46-2 (that'd be 46 losses in regulation, 2 losses in overtime). Then they lost their first five games of the 1987-88 season to log 53 straight losses, with just 4 wins recorded in that entire 2nd season. That run (or stumble) oughta be right up there in the list of organized sports futility.

Another tradition for the not-always-struggling franchise: In their forgettable opening season, the Lancers employed three head coaches (per hockeyDB). But in a coincidentally hopeful sign for the 21st Century team, Omaha's 4th head coach remained employed throughout the team's 2nd and 3rd seasons.

I know I feel better now, with history behind the headlines ... 📰

PLAYOFF UPDATES THIS WEEK

Tiebreaker order
: ROW (regulation + overtime wins), head-to-head record, most wins in league competition (regulation + overtime + shootout), least losses in league competition (regulation + overtime + shootout), greater overall goal differential. Magic number is set to hit 0 when the clinching team's total points equals the seventh place team's MAX points. Tiebreaker scenarios will be used to determine clinching from there. Please note that Chicago and NTDP are intentionally flipped in the playoff picture to ensure the formula works correctly. The last two teams in each conference go by 'Max Points' to accurately calculate the magic number.

  • Lincoln has clinched a playoff spot.
  • Dubuque sits at a magic number of (5) to clinch a playoff spot this week. Both wins by them and losses by the 7th place team in the Eastern Conference (NTDP), count toward this magic number.
  • Madison sits at a magic number of (7) to clinch a playoff spot this week. Both wins by them and losses by the 7th place team in the Eastern Conference (NTDP), count toward this magic number.
  • Sioux Falls sits at a magic number of (7) to clinch a playoff spot this week. Both wins by them and losses by the 7th place team in the Western Conference (Des Moines), count toward this magic number.
  • Muskegon sits at a magic number of (10) to clinch a playoff spot this week. Both wins by them and losses by the 7th place team in the Eastern Conference (NTDP), count toward this magic number.
  • Youngstown sits at a magic number of (10) to clinch a playoff spot this week. Both wins by them and losses by the 7th place team in the Eastern Conference (NTDP), count toward this magic number.
  • Chicago has fallen out of Anderson Cup contention. ...
