Turns out losing is a seminal tradition for the Lancers. In their inaugural season of 1986-87, their record was 0-46-2 (that'd be 46 losses in regulation, 2 losses in overtime). Then they lost their first five games of the 1987-88 season to log 53 straight losses, with just 4 wins recorded in that entire 2nd season. That run (or stumble) oughta be right up there in the list of organized sports futility.
Another tradition for the not-always-struggling franchise: In their forgettable opening season, the Lancers employed three head coaches (per hockeyDB). But in a coincidentally hopeful sign for 21st Century team, Omaha's 4th head coach remained employed throughout the team's 2nd and 3rd seasons.
